Been reading about CWD(Chronic Wasting Disease).

Damn that is some scary stuff.

What is the Hive's opinion on this? Real problem or not?

Have you seen it?

I haven't deer hunted in years so I never saw it.

It is a real issue in certain areas.

I thought the thread title was "Chronic Wasted Disease" and I got kind of excited.

Oh well, guess I'd better pour another glass of scotch

It is not in the area I hunt, and I'm very thankful for that.

I don't know what you mean about it being a real problem or not.  It's a very well documented condition.

Yes, it's real, it's scary, and we have it all over Colorado in the deer and Elk.  As an aside, Pronghorn Antelope do not get it, their are more closely related to Giraffes.

It is real.  Prion disease, similar to CJD.  Also can infect cattle, sheep and goats.

Some have hypothesized it is resident in the ground after infected animals die.

Just one of those things.  It's been pretty much eradicated here by the ODNR.  Herd management is the key to prevent the spread.
