Letter to the editor of the Frederick Post. In the Feb. 13 FNP section "Across the Nation," there were two stories of killings committed by a man "armed with a bloodied butcher knife" and a father stabbing to death his two young children. Clearly, the purchase of a knife brings with it a responsibility for proper use, and I would like to see a system whereby anyone buying a knife, even a pocket knife if it has a 4-inch blade, must have an FBI background check, the same as if they were buying a firearm.
