Sounds about right.  My brother had more than one package with expensive electronic gear inside left at his door.  He always had the stuff shipped with signature required, the driver would sign "door" on the signature line and leave it there.  Then he started having it shipped next day air so the driver wouldn't do that.  The driver bitched at him the whole time he was there about how next day air deliveries really screwed up his route.

Yup, I caught the Fed-Ex guy with sticker in hand (no knock and no package in hand) last summer. I told him I don't think so and he went back and got the package out of the truck. Standard procedure anymore for 9-5 deliveries is my guess. Pieces of trash.

I started telling them to leave it on my door step or at the front office.

Bastards insisted they made a delivery to my front door.  I was 8 feet away at my computer at the time.  No way that truck was even on my street.  You can't miss the sound it makes.

After that, they made me sign for every delivery for a year, until I called them and convinced them to stop that crap.

The real question is what was in the box?

Union shop. The driver in our area refuses to sign for insured packages (against their own company policy) and refuses to give his name so we will be able to track who picked it up if something happens.

Fuck 'em.

The usps guy would use to leave the "missed ya" note in my post box near the front office instead of actually coming to our apt. I called and complained after the 3rd time.

That's priceless!

Although I gotta say that this is the kind of shit that Fedex does around here.  Those bastards routinely log 2 delivery attempts without even coming to the house or they claim no delivery possible due to weather.  Yes, I've been here in the shop during those particular" delivery attempts.  Never did see a white van pull up.  And the weather delays?  How come UPS or the USPS makes it no problem?  Are Fedex drivers pussies?

It's gotten to the point where I'll not complete an order if they'll be shipping it via Fedex.  Fuck those guys!

For us, UPS is great!  We have a damned good driver who'll drive through anything to get here.  It probably helps that he approves of my purchases and gets to see my range when he visits.  Oh yeah, we treat him right come Christmas time.

I don't get the "attempted delivery" things much anymore since it costs extra for that service.

I have had them stick one after just one delivery attempt though, but the local loading center isn't far away so you can go there and get it from like 6 to 7 PM.
