because i like money and this shit is selling. here is the rough draft of what i started tonight. rapper is an old friend in boise and all i have done so far is build a basic looped beat. it will progress and build up , will cut up the vocals andput them in where they make sense. but this will give you the general feeling of the song.... www.logixsr.com/vicgon/fub-firstdraft.mp3 ETA: if our listening on shit speakers don't bother Update draft 2 clip www.logixsr.com/vicgon/fub-second-draft-clip.mp3 ETA: third rough draft. changed it up a bit. www.logixsr.com/vicgon/fub-third-rough-draft.mp3 |

Quoted: Totally, I'm just throwing out my comments. Quoted: Don't be afraid to change up the accompaniment, work in some real polyphony in there. Solid melodies would help too. check above. first draft .... only 30 minutes into it. Shit will get full retard before Im done A big problem I have with "pop" music today is that it's all cookie cutter crap, no one really writes *music* anymore. The songs could have been written by a series of FOR loops; no real depth too it at all. It's like pop composers have never heard of melody/harmony, counterpoint, or god forbid polyphony. If I could hear someone rapping/singing a melody over two legit polyphonic melodies I'd probably shit myself. |

I don't write monotonic repetitive nullshit f I can help it. This project spawned uot of the top 40 techno crap on the radio and my rapper friend wanting to get into it for sales but I wont let it sit at the standard out there so far. I will raise the bar. I think those last two ends of phrases rhymed so that probably is a sign of good fortune ![]() |

Quoted: You've probably heard some of the electronica rap stuff from Infected Mushroom then. They're probably one of my favorite electronic bands in regards to writing actually interesting sounding music.Quoted: Quoted: Totally, I'm just throwing out my comments. Sounds good. Hopefully I can eventually get you some vocals. Maybe showing my buddy the finished song will motivate him to get me the files. Hey, still listening to a song from New Jack City It's not me. My friend is the rapper. I'll be sure to let him know. Unfortunately he's been having some serious legal issues. I guess that's the price of actually doing what you rap about. |

Quoted: Dunno, I liked the first draft better, the second was way to noisey. The cleaner sound of the first would be much better if you crossed it into Dub Step and put a serious sick drop in the middle then let him have a chorus with a hot chick singing. Sick. it will be much cleaner when finished. I just kinda mash everything together until I have a structure I like and then the tedious task of making it sound good with editing mixdown and mastering. there is too much delay on the lead which is mucking it up Ill probably shorten that and the decay on the instrument to tighten it up. there is also a lot of distortion on it which I will automate up into the climax once I get to that step. |

i just got the M audio oxygen 49. It has some knobs and slides but i do most of my automation one track at a time so I didn't need one with a ton of knobs and shit. I have had it for probably five years now and beat the hell out of it with no problems so I wouldn't worry about quality with it. geeks will try and tell you that you need some 800 dollar something or other but mine works just fine Quoted: What MIDI controller are you using? I need to buy a new one. I just picked up Reason 5. |

I was actually looking at the O-25 as I doubt I'll need 49 keys over the 25 and I'm trying to keep my workstation small. It's been awhile since I've done any beat making, expecially anything more than playing around with F-Loops. |
