So, I'm on my laptop but left my desktop computer's client on. I thought there was a way for a non-chanop to kick whoever's using your nickname if you supply your password. Anyone know how to do that?

Don't use /msg for services. Most servers have that blocked, or the nicks are reserved, but there is a chance you may be sending your password to someone else(the big irc networks won't let that happen, but you never know with the smaller ones)... Use a direct command like /nickserv if your client supports it. "/nickserv help" will tell you everything it does, as the specific commands can vary slightly between servers(and starting out on dalnet, it took me a while to get used to servers that weren't running bahamut).

Or just PM an Op and ask that they boot your desktop nic.  Or just let it run, it's not like it's running up a bill....
