NYT - Topsy-Turvy: U.S. Is Frigid, Artic Is Balmy
Europe and the United States have had two consecutive severe winters, but it is freakishly warm 2,000 miles to the north. Above, New York was bitterly cold Monday.

All of these weather anomalies is well documented in the 2004 movie "Day After Tomorrow," it is caused by a shift in the North Atlantic Current. I think someone should interview Dennis Quaid(aka Dr. Jack Hall, paleoclimatologist) and find out if he has a climate model that will predict what will happen next.

Floridians. I know....we had -40F here last week in NW MN. I can't go to work until this afternoon at best because of a 5ft snow drift formed in front of my garage yesterday evening and last night and I now have 3 vehicles stuck in my driveway.....and we didn't even get any snow. That was from 35 mph winds sustained for 24 hrs. My 40hp tractor with the big ass snowblower is in the garage, and since the drift is as tall as my tractor, it ain't going far. So, I came inside to call work, make some coffee and oatmeal, and check in with Arfcom while I figure out what the fuck I'm gonna do. |

On top of Mt. Washington this morning the windchill was -87F.
It is a sign! Where I live it was a balmy -13.6F this morning. Windchill was about -25F. The dog ran outside this morning and then paused. She then started to roll in the snow. The cold feels like it stings so I suspect she thought she was on fire. She ran back into the house at Mach II and then dove onto her dog bed next to the wood stove. |

Just got back from the local shopping mall, some of the coeds from the local community college were there eating lunch, and they were dressed in flip-flops; teeny, tiny shorts; and a summer blouse.Quoted:

It was back in the Pleistocene, and you had to keep a sharp eye out for packs of dire wolves and the other assorted megafauna. The best looking chicks liked to hang around the natural hot springs wearing muskrat pelts on sinew strings to cover their unmentionables. At least I think they were muskrats... Good times, they were. Oh, sorry. I meant to post this in the I'm too old thread, not the It's too cold thread. |
