Will large capacity murses or fanny packs ever be considered normal for the American male?

How many hair clips and Cosmo mags can you fit in each bag though?

No, guys who carry purses will always be queers.

I wear a Maxpedition "fanny pack" to the gym. It contains my G26, spare mag, notebook, pen, ID and gym card. I don't get any odd looks.

I keep this in the Jeep:

Queer? Maybe. Maybe not. Regardless, it's function not fashion.

They probably don't give you any odd looks because everyone who sees the fanny pack instantly knows that you've got a gun.

I don't give a crap what anyone thinks. I loved carrying my Versapak with all my crap in it.

However, it's just too damned big. I'm looking for a smaller replacement.

And the proof that it's becoming more popular is that more and more places are beginning to design and carry them.

Now, if you get one in pink with purple rainbows, then yeah, you're ghey.

Fannypack = gun to people in the know. Cops, some crooks, other gun folks. I really think your average people just think it looks dorky. If you must do off body carry I would pick something that doesn't scream gun. That means no acticool colors (camp, OD, tan) or predominate tacticool logos (maxipedition). A nice camera or laptop bag would be good. But might make you a target for thieves/purse snatchers. Why are you considering off body carry in the first place? There are carry solutions even while working out that don't involve off body carry.

Meh. I did Thunderwear for awhile, but that got...chaffy. I'm not at the gym trolling for women or spoiling for a fight, so whatever determination they arrive at is fine by me.

THey were in the late 80's.

However, this is not the late 80's anymore.
In this day and age, a satchel/bookbag with an Aplle logo on it will serve you well.

Laptop carrying case. Its basically a briefcase with a two point tac-sling.

I have a go bag fanny pack that I wear on EMS calls. Holds stethoscope, pens, Braslow tape, 1" and 2" tape, sharpies, shears, scissors, hemostats, EKG calipers, notepad, a few cheat sheets.

Since it is functional and with me when I need it, I do not care what others think. YMMV

Yes. Messenger bags have been completely accepted among teens and twenty-somethings.  I have a murse that I use when I am at large venue outdoor functions.  Its no big deal.  If someone has a problem with that - they should seek therapy.

Thats what I thought. If it is big enough to hold two nuts then you are good to go....

Think that they are normal in my area. Maybe because it is relatively high tourist area, but no one gives a second glance, or even a ribbing from male friends or co workers.

They're already commonly accepted here in Texas.

The only "man bags" that will ever be normal are attached, wrinkled, and hairy.  Got it?

are  backpacks considered purses?
i think regular student backpack would be more acceptable than any thing else.

I have a Maxpedition versipack that goes to work at the Sheriff's office when it doesn't matter that OD green seems "tactical" or screams gun. Anywhere else I go I have a bag made by Gravis Skateboard company (coincidentally called the Sidearm) that is pretty un-queer that's pretty much a bug out bag or ready to stay out overnight without notice (can't drive, SHTF, hook up, whatever)

HAHAHA
The gun holster portion opens seperately from the day planner portion of it LOL, I was going to order 2 of them so me and my wife could both have them while at work and nobody would be the wiser...Especially since carrying on person doesnt work well with what I do since I work on cars and am always upside down/sideways/underneath dashboards and my shirt would CONSTANTLY be riding up and exposing my weapon

Might look at the Maxpedition "Neatfreak" its a bit smaller and streamlined than the versapack but fits a a good amount of stuff.
Oh, and the flap with the attachment points on it, can be tucked inside the mesh pocket for less tactical look.
