Just a few minutes ago my Gateway laptop stopped playing sound.Ive reset, pulled my battery and restarted. Its not on mute, and the speaker is turned up to 100%. It worked fine then just stopped out of nowhere. Ive tried troubleshooting but it came up with nothing. Is there anything else I can do to figure out whats wrong?

Make sure all recent Windows updates have been completed.   You can use the go back feature to reset your computer to a few days ago.  I recently had the same problem with my Gateway.   I am running Windows 7 but it should solve your problem if you are using XP too.
Good luck.

Tried that already,no luck.  I reinstalled the sound driver from the gatway support page and that didnt work either.

Boot a Knoppix CD and try audio from there. If it works the OS needs attention. If it does not work the hardware needs attention. If the second is the case look for any sort of physical volume control or hotkey function that could have turned it down/off. Actually, look for that before booting a Knoppix CD but you get the idea.
