I have had these damn things for a few months now and have wore then almost every day, they still feel like I am wearing a pair of ski boots.  What gives?

It sounds as though you purchased footwear that didn't fit you well to start with.

Let me guess, you bought these online without trying them on first

Nope....had them fitted for me at a uniform shop.  The dealer told me that there is a break in period, but man....not soon enough.  Ouch!  At the end of the day my feet are killing me, what am I doing wrong?

Used to be, when I used to wear Frye's, you had to saddle soap 'em a dozen times and oil 'em a few times during that break-in.

I'm not up on all the new foot wear technology.

I did this to my original strikers

Put on really thick socks
Put on Boots and lace them all the way up
Fill up bathtub with Hot water (as high as you can get it)
Stand in bathtub with boots on (about 30 mins)
Get out and walk around a bit to strech them
Take them off and them the dry out
Repolish ect...

I dont know about that model boots.

I had a pair of leather work boots that were so stiff I warmed up the oven on its lowest setting. Stuck them on a pan and popped them in to warm up. I then slathered them with mink oil and let them sit in there and absorb it , repeated this a few times. It helped alot to soften them up.

If that's what it takes to get your boots to fit properly, you bought the wrong boots.

My thoughts exactly...however, I bought them, so I have to make them work.  Should have stuck with the Blackhawks.

I bought a pair of Danners once and the exact same issue.  They sat in the closet forever and then got donated to Salvation Army somewhere along the way.

I never bought another pair.

Actually that's the correct way to form fit boots to your foot.

It's mostly impossible to make boots in standard sizes that exactly fit feet that aren't standard size.

Feet also change size/shape slightly according to time of day, activity, and environment.
It's also not uncommon to have different sized feet from left to right.
It's also not uncommon for manufacturers sizes to vary from pair to pair in a particular style.  Try different pairs in the same size/style/model/brand when you shop.
A lot of people swear the time of day you shop for foot wear should coincide with your activity level.
Anyway - getting a size 9 boot to fit a size 9.1 foot is achieved by wear/breaking it in.
Getting a size 9 boot to fit a size 9.1x to 9.3x foot is achieved by the methods above - hot water, mink oil, stretching, etc.

Fitting
Fitting a 9.x foot?  try a different brand, they aint all the same size standard.

ETA: My opinion from experience, reading, talking to podiatrists, and other stuff.  I've given away a LOT of boots that just never worked out over time.

YMMV.

A military guy taught me that and it worked just fine.

+1, excpet I was told to walk till the boot is dry.

Last pair of danners I bought were Fort Lewis ones After 18 years and 3 soles I had to toss them.
