Do you ever just enjoy sitting in a quiet room, with nothing on, besides a light, maybe.
I find myself wanting to do that more and more lately. Just sitting and thinking to my self. Im not depressed or upset about anything, I just like to sit in peace and quiet and think. Is this something that becomes more common as you get older? It just occurred to me as I was doing just this earlier tonight. I thought it was kind of odd at first, but then I just realized that I guess I like to do it to unwind. Is this odd? ETA: Another thing I sometimes do, is mute the TV for no reason, just for the peace as well. |

I like the quite...I get tired of the talking heads on tv....like a bunch of barking chihuahuas. When I was younger the music was always cranked up. Now I would rather listen than just hear. My wife is somewhat the same so our house is often quite. Quiet...move the e over a bit |

In a few more years, you'll find yourself sitting there in silence because you can't remember what the fuck you were doing. |

I once unplugged my fridge and my water cooler, in order to make my apartment totally quiet. I sat quietly for about two hours, and I actually didn't fall asleep. It was quite peaceful. When I was a little guy, maybe 4 or 5, we lived in a house with a little stone path going down the side. It was positioned in such a way that the sun would always shine down the stone path early in the morning (sunrise). I would go out and sit indian-style on the rocks in the silence of the morning and just enjoy the warmth of the sun. It was wonderful, and I think about it all the time. Really the most peaceful time of my life.

As a serious response, when this is the case and I want to "get away" from noise and all that, I go driving. |

Really the most peaceful time of my life. When I was a wee tike, I used to sleep in the sunny area of our storm-doors. Easily top 3 memory of my childhood was waking up with the family dog curled up next to me and the cat purring away happily. Back when sleeping on the floor was comfortable. |

I've always found it incredibly relaxing to be in a dark (or at least mostly dark room) with nothing going except the sound of a fan. For some reason, that is relaxing as hell.
I also find it relaxing to be out in the woods alone, with nothing but the sound of nature as my companion. Granted, I don't like that sort of thing for an extended period of time. But it is kinda nice to do something like that every once and a while just to get away from all the things that give us stress. Without a little quiet time here and there, most of us would probably go insane. |

I call it "Surveying my kingdom". It usually involves sitting on the patio at my house or by the waterfront at my parents cottage with a cup of coffee and or a cigar and maybe some peanuts in the shell and doing nothing but looking off into the distance and taking time to notice the things that are typically missed in the noise and confusion of everyday life. With a wife and kids I don't get to do it as often as I would like but it sure is a treat when I can.
