Global warming is a frequent topic of conversation here. I've been to the Everest region in Nepal. I've seen the moraines left by the glaciers as they retreated up the valley.
I've seen photos from early in the last century showing the extent of those same glaciers. Something is going on?? Any comments?? |

If there is global warming (now called climate change), it is a natural cyclical event.
We are coming out of the last ice age so I would expect things to warm up globally. In a few hundred thousand years, it's gonna freeze again. It is arrogant to think that man is so important that we are solely responsible for changes to our climate. |

Of course there are places in Alaska where glaciers are advancing. You could also look at pictures of Skagway AK during the gold rush where the terrain is devoid of trees yet today there are plenty of them pushing 100ft tall.
The climate ebbs and flows naturally. To say "we" caused some sort of cataclysmic climate change is pure hubris. |

Ok, now has snow melt reached equilibrium? No..... Therefore there is still glacial ice that will melt at the current temperatures no warming required. If you look at the earliest pictures of glacial ice in Alaska, glacier park etc, the melting has been constant over the last hundred years because we are not yet at equilibrium for the current temperatures. Everyone just assumes that nothing should change from what we see today or ten years ago, but it is a natural cycle and if there was an ice age 10K years ago then you are wrong to assume that everything is in equilibrium. The glacial ice melting today has been melting at a similar rate since the last ice age. We just happen to be seeing some of it go to zero in our lifetime. How much ice was there 500 years ago or 1000 years ago. There was a lot more than there is today but no one knows because our "history" and record keeping on such things is a mere blink in earth time. |

| Global Warming is a religion. It is a complete leap of faith for those who WANT TO BELIEVE the planet is warming. It is as leap of faith to a belief system that flys in the face of fact and real science in favor massaged data and psuedoscience. Those who choose to believe the myth are not diswuaded by over 100 years of REAL measured data. |

Rather than come to a conclusion based on short term data, lets look at some long term trends. Long Island, NY was probably formed by a Glacier, and not that long ago. Glacier National Park has been photographed for 150 years. The photo's clearly show retreating glaciers back then, prior to any many made CO2. How do we explain this? I'm not here to deny global warming, climate change or any of the other bullshit people claim (religion is a good example). I am here to say that it's incredibly important to have all the facts in front of you before coming to a conclusion. In the absence of those facts, it's OK to say "I don't know". And, that is my official position. algore's data is flawed, seriously flawed. The increase in CO2 levels is so incredibly small, it's impossible to measure without modern equipment. Saying it's increased 50% due to mankind is very misleading. It's still at near unmeasurable levels. Less than 400 parts per million. Put another way, the air is LESS THAN 1/2500 parts CO2. A trace gas, at best. |

I too have visited the moraines seeing the rocks left behind as the glaciers retreated but that was 30 years ago ... and in the Chicago Illinois area!
As I understand it the glaciers carved some lakes out that were so very big they were called "Great". Florida has some record setting heat blasting it today threatening to kill off the orange crop for next year. They've got air conditioners strung up along the groves attempting to chill the crop. I'm betting that the big growing nuclear fusion event that rises in the east and sets in the west every day is the cause of the warming and cooling now, like it has been for the first very few billion years of this rock's history. The man-made global warming movement is nothing short of a socialist/Marxist plot to fleece the capitalist of their wealth and to put more power into the hands of those who would sell fake capital like carbon credits. Follow the money. |

Think about that, and then tell me that this warming trend is man made. That is the crux of the matter. Is this a man made problem, or natural cycle? Something going on? The General argument is about wherther or not it's man made. Some data that was produced a while ago basicially showing that it was man made turned out to be fake.
Ignore the people that argue that there is no GW because it's cold where they live, they don't understand weather cycles. I could just as easily say that GW is true because it has snowed only a fraction of normal here in Colorado. It's snowed about 2" here this year and the normal is around 20" for this time of year. OMG!!! GW is REAL!!!!!

What amazes me is how nobody ever brings up solar weather in this discussion. A quick primer:
We are constantly bombarded by cosmic rays, or radiation emitted from outside the solar system by other stars and weird shit (not an astronomy buff). Those rays, when they interact with our atmosphere, are a mjor contributor to cloud formation. Clouds trap heat and aid in the greenhouse effect. The solar wind generated by the sun usually sheilds us from the vast majority of these cosmic rays, so we have a mild amount of cloud cover. But the solar wind is not constant, and heavily depends upon the activity level of the sun. Over the last 11 years or so, the suns activity level has been the lowest ever recorded, so we've had more of a solar breeze than a solar wind, thus more cosmic rays impacting the earth, so more clouds, which equals more trapped heat. That's why I laugh at hippies and greens, because unless they can figure out how to tel Sol to get its ass back to work, all the Prius's in the world aren't going to make fuck-all of a difference. Oh, and some recent research and findings have led to some interesting theories regarding the onset time of the ice age. It might have happened over a period of months, not years or decades as previously thought. Think about what kind of effects such a rapid onset would have on the world today from a geo-political standpoint. |

Correction, dam near all of it was proven to be fake, the CRU was the generator of the fake data and everyone else based their arguments off their data. Or as in NASAs case, they just regurgitated the CRU data. At this point there is almost no temperature data for the past 20 years that is worth anything, pretty unreal to think about. The liberals employ the same exact tactic when they try to put section 8 housing in a nice area. They have a bogus company with a fancy scientific name do a bogus report saying section 8 housing does not bring in crime.....ya right. |
