In a few days, I will be once again taking a long walk over a short stage for graduation........and I think I'm jittery right now.

Not because it is the first time....it's the time 2+. This time, it will be rather alone as well. Senior relatives are sick or dead, immediate relatives are busy with other things, plus I really haven't had much of a chance to tell anyone.....even if there was a point to doing that. For one thing, this ceremony is practically right after work. I get off work and the next hour, I need to be there, lining up. Sort of picture myself like "Abby" in "ER" at her graduation ("Midnight"). Where's Abby and suddenly one hears the patter of rapidly moving heels as she's running to make it. So even if I did have guests, by the time it is all over, battery power will be moving into its trickle stage.

I think that is probably why I am feeling the jitters, everything has been moving along on a warp drive. Get done with one thing, there is another thing there to do. Even now, at T - so many days, there is still one more final to do though it is in a class I don't need for graduation and hopefully, the last hurdle for what I do need is done with the work I turned in Monday morning. That is, I hope it doesn't come back to me for another correction.

Five years of work on this one, three of them in research on the final project. This, this, this, this, this, this, and this....and more this,  this, this, this, and this..........and then rather suddenly but not unexpected IT IS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF ME, filling the screen, like something out of Irwin Allen. But, and then, afterward.........well, it will be something how I use to picture the successful end of a rough week: Up at 50K feet, engines windmilling, nose down. That is, "you have successfully completed the mission and used resources to max to do so. Now you get to look for a field you can dead stick to."

No parties, no one there to share with, no energy available for it even if there was someone. That night will be like any other that night of the year. And then, a day or two later, I go back to the job I am doing now.

STILL, unlike others who view it as the first time is great but don't walk any other time after that, I do want to go through with the ceremony. I can't think of a reason why not to even though it will probably not be as big for me as it is for the first timer.

I hardly think a beer would calm such nerves. It would take two shots of scotch, at least......probably neat.

Maybe see if someone in your HTF wants to come.  Where is it?

Thank you but things like that I can't say.

For various reasons but essentially, it is a violation of personal security. That is, those met on the net stay on the net.

But thank you anyway.
