| What do you guys with full time jobs do for extra money in your spare time? With the economy being the way it is, companies don't really seem to be giving out too many raises, and I'm just wondering how you guys make a little ammo money on the side. |

Once people find out I do web design and server work, the jobs flow in on their own. I like the quick hit network/server tuneups, but I have a couple frequent clients. Only problem is that most problems are emergencies that need to be fixed quickly...and I already work 50 hours a week, so it needs to be done in the evening or on weekends.
It's nice "mad money" on the side. |

I install security cameras and systems
I install cellphone amplifiers for inside buildings with low cell reception I install telephone jacks and CATV and cat5, electric outlets where people want them at a discount rate. I do mechanic work on the side I get some fairly steady business with my FFL I help my friend butcher deer and filet fish for his smoking business Im up for anything, Ill offer to saw wood, fix electric fences, repair chainsaws, find broken lawnmowers at the dumpster fix and sell it, Im always trying to hustle. My biggest setback is the year and half old kid and leaving him with the wife while I go out and make cash. |

Home theater work. Hanging TVs on walls, setting up surround sound systems, programming universal remote controls. I'll clear close to $1K this month. I do have an LLC and I do report the income and pay taxes. I used to have my contractors license but once I realized that I didn't need one for 99% of the jobs I can get, I let it lapse - and saved a ton of money on insurance and bonding. In 2009 I actually lost money on the business - and I'm not talking a paper loss - I actually spent more on maintaining the license/insurance/bond than I did in work. In 2008 and 2010, I've made pretty good money for something I do just a few hours a month. |

I do water recovery of lost firearms from boating accidents. Actually, the company work for has a policy against side jobs. Before you bristle up over that take note, I am on call 24-7 and if at all posible I am to make an effort at getting to work. Callout pay is usually pretty lucrative. For side money, I invest in the stock market. |

With our schedule and kids its hard to do side work. We take what overtime we can get but even that is challenging.
The main thing we've done over the last year to extend our dollar is to look for ways not to spend them. Works really well. After this holiday season we are going to kick it up a notch and try to finish our debt next year. Except for the house. That said, I'm a tilesetter and turn down work nonstop. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I'm a carpenter, I am always turning down work. This When you say carpenter, what kind of work do you guys do? General repairs? Electrical and Plumbing? Painting? Landscaping? I don't do anything big like a kitchen or bathroom remodel as side work. Usually its install a new front door, put up crown moulding, build/install cabinets for electronics. Also a lot of fix-it /handyman stuff. There's a lot of single/divorced/widowed MILFs around my county that need a man around! |
I hate being bored on my days off.
