| Anyone have any advice on a snowblower in the $1000 range? We typically get a few 10" + snowstorms each year but there are years when we get little snow. I have a level driveway that is 26 feet by about 70 feet. I also have a walk that I have to clear that is sloped and about 125 feet long. |

I asked the same question on here last year. Most people recommended and Ariens from an actual Ariens dealer not Lowes or Home Depot. These have more steel parts than a Craftsman or Troy built.
I ended up with the 24" Deluxe model. I had the choice of a Subaru or Briggs motor. I went with the 200ish cc Subaru motor. I have only used it once so far this year. My father-in-law lives in Buffalo and has used the same Ariens for the last 30 years under heavy use with no problems. I paid about $900. For the money it was the best I could find. The equivalent Toro, Snapper, and Honda were way out of my price range. Hope this helps; I should get to use mine a lot in the next couple of days. |
| I had the chance to use the Ariens over the past couple of days. I used it on both concrete and gravel driveways with some drifts over a foot deep. It went right through everything. I was very pleased. The Subaru motor starts on the first pull even in 10 degree temps. |
