[ARCHIVED THREAD] - MODEL1SALES problems (Page 1 of 2)

To make a long story short, I've ordered plenty of things from model1 over the past few years and never really had any issues. They even sent me a replacement shipment of $115 worth of parts and tools that had gotten lost in the mail in October without questioning me. And when the original package showed up a few weeks later, I sent it back to them.
Overall I've had an OK experience dealing with them. Last week I ordered an A2 buttstock setup from Model1Sales for $55.00. Yes, I noticed on the final billing screen it says : "In an effort to offer you the best possible shipping and insurance rates, Model 1 Sales will apply the shipping cost at the time your order is processed. You may contact Model 1 Sales for an estimate of your shipping costs after placing your order. "
Well I never figured that they would charge me $15 just to mail a simple butt stock. I was in shock when I got charged $70. I ended up calling them this morning to clarify things, and the female that always answers the phone over there, (she sounds like the trailer park manager from 'No Country for Old Men') became irate that I was questioning her about the charges. I explained that I had ordered many things from them before and never had anything as outlandish as this, and that if I knew I was going to be charged $15 I would have ordered some other items as well. (Since this stock is a gift, I ordered it individually). Her response was 'Well, you can always call us to see what the shipping costs will be' and then hung up the phone on me. Granted that I tend to order most items in the evening when they are closed, this option seems to be a pain in the ass. Too bad they can't post their shipping charges like other online stores. Model1Sales has lost my business and I would not recommend anyone to use their services. |

Seriously? Seriously what? What I noticed is that on the 'order confirmation' email they sent out last week, it says the order total is $55. No where on there did they include the $15 for shipping. They don't want you to know until its too late. This is borderline fraudulant. |
|
Quoted: And its not just the $15 shipping costs for a small part that irritates me, its the fact that the only person answering the phone over there acts like a self righteous b**** to people calling in with questions. Thats not good for repeat customers. It is a little too much for a stock, IMO. USPS has a flat rate box and it goes priority for $10. And the boxes are even free. (stock would fit no prob) So that said, yeah I'd be ticked, and the nasty bitch on the phone adds insult to injury... But there is no fucking way I'd order something until I knew exactly what shipping was going to cost me. This "we'll add it later" bullshit is just that, bullshit. Homie don't play that. |

I ship/receive (mostly receive) items everyday from UPS. $15 is a perfectly reasonable charge for something the size of a buttstock in todays world. EVERYTHING is getting out of reason. They did not cheat you in any way, shape, or form. well which is it?
You fail at reading comprehension. I agree that $15 is high for shipping something like this, but unfortuantely, high prices such as this are normal nowadays and it is of no fault of Model 1 Sales. |
| How was it shipped? If it was delivered by the SBTOD( slow brown truck of death) then I'd say that is about the right price. I like companies that ship USPS flat rate. But the other hand, I don't know how many time I have been charged $7-15 for shipping for something that could have been put in a small padded envelope and shipped first class mail. |

They could have shipped it cheaper. And if they can't figure out how, then they suck at running a business. I was reading about their system giving out a lot of people's CC numbers and some people getting screwed. They must have some real monkeys working there. |

Internet shopping; a guide for AR buttstock shoppers.
Total with shipping from M&A parts is $75.45 Bushmaster = $91.45 CMMG = $94.95 RRA = $65 Based on my 5 minute search, I would not bother with M1 parts. Even if their shipping was $5 they would still be more than RRA. But, $80 for a stock shipped doesn't seem too out of line. Very middle of the road. I don't order from places that won't give me shipping (or at least an upper limit) up front, I do not want to give them carte blanche to charge me whatever they feel like. |

Its the last time I'm doin business with these ass clowns. |

I agree that $15 is high for shipping something like this, but unfortuantely, high prices such as this are normal nowadays and it is of no fault of Model 1 Sales. No they aren't. The vast majority of the places I order from don't even charge for shipping. The ones that do, frequently use flat rate boxes. I could fit three stocks into one of them and it'd still cost $10. Charging $15 for something that doesn't even weigh a pound, and doesn't exceed normal size, is ridiculous. That's double rate, and it probably went slow boat not 3 day priority. Then again, most people here know M1S as gunshow sheisters and we are not surprised. |

Sportsman's guide would charge $10.49 for a $65 item... Cabela's charges $10.95... some places even have a surcharge for orders under a certain limit. No one would complain if the shipping was $25.... if the stock was $30 instead of $65. I shop bottom line price, and $80 for a A2 stock delivered is very middle-of-the-road. |

Seriously? You're bitching over $15 in shipping costs? Let it go, man Considering that's 30% of what he paid for the item I can understand that. ETA: to qualify my statement I just bought $1200 of stuff at Bravo Company(2 uppers, 2 BCGs w/ charging handles, and 2 stock kits) and shipping was $13.50 |

Whats funny is that horseshit like $15 to ship a stock is precisely why Cheaper than Dirt fell out of favor here. |
| Besides the horrible CS and cheaply made parts, the owner is a whore. And old neighbor who used to be in the same business(as Sun Valley Sales) was very good friends with her ex-husband. He came home from running tables at gun shows for her business to find her in bed with another man and she took everything he had when they split, which wasn't much as he worked for her. Interesting random info, the company name came about because there were three daughters in her family and the father called them model 1, 2 and 3. When he retired he split his parts business up and gave a piece to each daughter, the owner of M1S being the oldest. |

Meh. Theres places out there that want that much to ship a couple of hammer/trigger pins and a safety detent and spring. <cough> Midway <cough> ![]() The last time I ordered some small AR parts from Midway they charged me $3.37 iirc. They sell the same Model 1 stock for $55 and would charge about $9 shipping, although you could probably add a few items without pushing the shipping charge any higher. edited for speeling |

Model 1 Sales M&A Parts Ranger Sales The father (Dresan) sold parts under the Nesard name and manufactured lowers under the Sendra name. Back in the early 80's I built my first AR on a Sendra receiver with a Nesard kit. |

Brownells is just as bad. $11 and change to ship anything. It's costing them sales because I look for more small parts locally, or shop for guys that have cheaper shipping. |
