Went to one today.... apparently the crappiest one in my area as I was told by the girl working the register.

I was told it was like walking into a candy store where all of the pieces were in big clear containers. Well, the had this but not a bit of good pieces... just bricks... various colored bricks, steering wheels, some wheels and axles.... a few other crappy pieces but nothing worth spending the money to fill up a cup. I was looking forward to buying a shitload of special pieces to make mechs and robots out of. No such luck.

They didn't even have any cool sculptures or anything.

Back on my day, all we had were bricks, and by golly, we were happy with em! None of those pansy ass bionicle or custom 74° angle radius 1x47 crap you kids have now!

Next time I'm in NoVA, I need to stop by the LEGO store in patomic mills. It has been about seven years since I've been there.

Legos have gotten way to expensive over the years from when I had them which is when the odd ball parts to make awesome looking spaceships where in full effect. Next time your in a Walmart or TRU or any place that sells legos, go look at the prices. The smallest boxed set there is the same price you used to buy one of the big sets for.

I'm still looking forward to my hypothetical trip to california as I've still never been to Legoland.

As a kid I was a big lego player.Over the years I acquired a big bin of them, I have started playing with them again with my daughter and added a few more sets.

I love the new pieces. not to much the ones that are obviously designed for a specific build, but the other ones. The ones you can make stuff like this or this.

They are in the middle of rebuilding the store at that location to make it even bigger. There are several scultpures suspended from the ceiling covered in black tarps at the moment, I suppose those will be revealed when it reopens.

My wife goes to the local one every couple of weeks and fills up one of their cups with legos for about $8.  She packs the legos in there and brings it home and dumps it in the kids' lego box.  You can build up the kids' supply of legos pretty quickly that way.  Granted, they're generic parts, but my kids are young and enjoy it.  Extra bricks are extra bricks.  When birthdays and Christmas comes around is when they get the kits with the specialized parts.

I have seen their imagingations grow since they started playing Legos earlier this year.  It takes me back!!!

Well regardless of whom he is talking to, if he does get down that way, the Lego Store in Downtown Disney is pretty impressive in its own right.  It's a Lego / Disney merchandising overload, I tell ya!

If you look around the other pictures from that second link, there's a pair of fantastic spaceships there too - and a really neat hangar backdrop.

I used to put stuff like this together with my Legos as a kid - I had a ton of the space sets.

Go - it's awesome.  I used some frequent flier miles that were expiring to take my son.  I wish we'd have gone for 2 days instead of one.

My son has taken to doing stop motion animation with Legos'

He does some pretty creative stuff, and really funny.

I'm trying to get him to do an Arfcom version with magnets, planes on treadmills, cookies in the shower, the whole nine yards.
It would be funny as hell.

My wife was even saying when the kids are out of the house she would buy the big sets and build them and just put them on a shelf or something. They're kind of like really expensive 3D puzzles. I love them.

I would LOVE to have this one

My mom is holding two 20gal tubs full of my Legos hostage saying she'll only give them to me when I have a kid.  I've threatened to reproduce just so I could get my Legos back.
