In order to transfer music (CD's, MP3 files) to my phone from my PC, do I have to download the Verizon app?  Would like to avoid this if possible, as VZ tends to try to charge you for things.  Thanks in advance.

You can just copy your MP3s to the SD card via your computer.

Yup, the charger turns into a USB connector, and you can transfer as if it were a flash drive.

Yep, sneaker-net it via the SD card or use an ftp or scp app to pull from your wifi net if you have one.

More detail please? What is speaker netting?  If I pull from Wi-Fi what app should I use?  Much appreciated.

Try the Awesome Drop app.  May be right up your alley.

sneaker-net means pull the SD card from the phone, walk (sneaker) it over to your computer, plug in via SD reader and copy files to it. Plugging the phone itself to the computer via the USB cable will work too if your OS recognizes it.

You can use free andftp app to transfer over the wifi via ftp if you have wifi and and ftp server set up.

Sneaker-net is when you just transfer data by walking it from one machine to the other on removable media (an SD card in this case). As for your question, as mentioned by other posters, just plug your X into your computer using a USB cable and then transfer the files the same way you would if you were transferring them to any other external drive.

Just hook the USB us as posted above.

F'n Verizon sux because the application only works on 32 bit systems.  Windows 7 and up are all 64 bits.

Asshats

Recently signed up at Droid Forums and am eventually gonna root mine and get rid of the bloatware.

My Camcorder froze yesterday and doesn't work properly, so I may get a new phone.

This is precisely the point where VZ wants me to get their crap.  I am capable of plugging my phone into my computer.
Not trying to sound snarky here, thanks for your input.

It's not an Apple product, no bullshit necessary to copy YOUR music to YOUR phone.
