Anyone played with theirs yet? |
| So far the damn upgrade the xbox just put out has fucked me over pretty bad, lost my account info and all my friends. Im also a little hesitant to install something on my Xbox that "recognizes" me and has a web cam set up that watches the "goings on" in my living room...Last thing I want is bill gates sitting at home eating popcorn watching me give it to my old lady our couch... Tinfoil anyone? I got plenty to spare... |

Never heard of it. Off to google... Until I have a cool gun and it senses my walking around for Call of Duty...meh... I have a Wii anyway (which probably hasn't been powered on in a year), so unless the Kinect does somethin ground breaking, I won't be dropping the $150+ games. |

Compared to your Wii, it is groundbreaking. Bought one for the woman. Arrives tomorrow. |

Quoted: we picked ours up today. It's hellaciously fun. +1 Got mine yesterday. Only got to play with it for a few hours. We have Joyride, Adventures, and Kinectimals. We'll be testing out Kinectimals with our 5-year old daughter this weekend. It's disgustingly cute from what little bit I played with it. Adventures and Joyride were fun and look to be great party/family games. VERY high potential for hilarity if drunk people are playing! My wife was complaining that she needs to put on a sports bra if she's going to be playing Adventures much. The pictures that it takes during the game are pretty damn funny. The video chat was one of the big reasons that we wanted it. We tested it with a few people and it worked great. All you need on the other end is Windows LIVE Messenger and a webcam. All that my computer illiterate father had to do was install LIVE Messenger, create a Windows LIVE account during installation, and we were up and running. We have family from out of state that we don't get to see very often and who would like to see our daughter more. It's a real pain in the ass to try to get everybody on our side on the webcam with the PC. We can sit on the couch and video chat with family. Distant relatives can "be there" when our daughter opens up presents from them. Our daughter's birthday is in a few weeks, so we're planning on doing some "happy birthday" video chats with relatives. The voice control commands are somewhat limited, but the Xbox recognized nearly all of the voice commands that I used. The few that it didn't recognize were due to unexpected environmental noise. Again, as a v1.0 product, I was pretty impressed with it. I'm sure Microsoft will be developing the heck out of the Kinect functionality. And I think that they have a pretty solid foundation to build on. I'm a manager for a group of systems analysts at work.. and I'm a huge user interface/workflow nerd. I'm fairly impressed with the product. As a version 1.0 product with v1.0 games, it's pretty well polished. Microsoft really did their homework with this one. I'm primarily a FPS guy myself, but the Kinect games were a nice change of pace. Variety is the spice of life and all that. My wife is not a gamer, but she had a blast playing Adventures and Joyride. I think the Kinect games will do a lot to bring in non-gamers and more family players to the Xbox. |

Anyone played with theirs yet? Getting one for Christmas. Game suggestions would be good - plan to look for some the kids (2/4) can play. We've just got the one game that came with it.. .that Adventures one. I want the dance one next |

Quoted: Quoted: I'm still too busy bitching about the white background....... Nothing like hitting the big button and having a flash-bang go off in your living room.... ![]() Have you tried switching to a new theme? No, but I don't think the menu background changes with different themes. |

Tempting, but in the end I think I'd just wind up using it for browsing my music and movies "Minority Report" style.
I think I will be saving my mad money for when the new MIDI Fender comes out for Rock Band 3...unless my friend at Microsoft makes me an offer I can't refuse. IIRC, the MS company store doesn't deeply discount on XBOX hardware, though. |

I love it. It's incredibly freeing. No remotes to hold onto, and I can move around. I hate sitting like a lump and gaming. That's the whole point of video games! Why don't you just go outside if you don't like sitting like a bump on a log? But World at War, MW2, Fable 2 & Fable 3 aren't outside... |

The perfect payback: Start slow with a little foreplay, then as you start getting more and more into it, have her ask if you have protection, and then you say yes. When you go to pull it out, flip down a sign over the kinect that says "Fuck you Bill" and then have your fun.

(now I just need to find a way to fill the other 55mins to keep him entertained )

Picked up a bundle kit yesterday since my first Xbox RRoD. Played with it yesterday and struggled with the room size and getting the thing to recognize my 4 year old. Rearranged the living room last night after the kids went to bed just so she could get it to work. ![]() She has played the adventure game a couple hours and now the Kinectanimals game (lame as hell but she loves it) for the last 2. Its a hit, and I am impressed with how well it works overall. You just need to be sure you have the space. |

If you can get the sensor above (adult) chest level, you can cut down a little on the amount of space needed. |

I tried locating it on top of the TV, chest high for me, but it was too tall to see the munchkin well enough to be playable. I put it below the TV, about waist height and it worked only ok for her and poorly for me. Reaaranging the room worked fine as now there is about 8' of play space. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

That sucks. What games did you guys get. My 5-year old daughter loves the Kinectimals game. We have Adventures and Joyride. We tried out the video chat with my dad last night. Dad was using Windows LIVE Messenger on his laptop. It works pretty well, but seemed to have some trouble with the auto-zoom at times when my daughter was walking in and out of frame. |

Just the adventures and the kinectimals. I hope some shooting games come out soon. Will need something with a more mature theme when the kids are in bed. Too much sickly sweetness is killing me. |
