Just browsing ebay and noticed lots of people selling gift cards like this. Why would someone go through the hassle of waiting for an auction to end for 49 cents.

Current bid over the value

WTF?

Is this some type of scam I'm missing?

I've seen this before and I think either money laundering or bought with stolen CC's.  Something just seems odd about it.

shill bidding perhaps.  Drive the price up, and then have the shill retract their bids so the next highest bidder is stuck at their highest bid.

Probably not, but selling 100 $100 gift cards?  Maybe.  Why would you sell gift cards for less than you paid?

Depending on where they are two, perhaps a restaurant that isn't local to you, or that you don't enjoy. (won them, whatever)

When I worked in corporate LP they were often bought with stolen cc's or were the product of fraudulent refunds. I can't believe people buy them for the simple fact that they could have a zero balance.
