I have a few questions about Android...

1. Is anyone using it in an enterprise environment?

2. Will it push/pull email with the proper server?

3. What is the best place to get information on it (i.e. the Arfcom of Android)

4. Has anyone gotten an Android tablet and if so how do you like it and what can it do?

I am interested in doing some process and production improvement for our company (commercial landscaping) using tablets. Right now the choices are (or will be in the near future) iPad, Android (Samsung, Archos, etc.) and Blackberry's Playbook. I am looking for a device that can do some basic computer stuff, Word docs, some light spreadsheet and photo editing and that can have applications made for it fairly easily.

Currently there are a few management programs out there, but they all fall short of what I want it to do. I am hopeful that with advent of the tablet, their low pricing and the open source nature of Android, or the App Stores for BB and Apple that I could, with the help of the IT department, put together a testable system that will streamline our processes from proposal to contract completion.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Android is not really ready for the secure enterprise yet.

First thing is to ONLY work with 2.1 or 2.2, no lesser versions.

For an actual secure enterprise, it may be a bit early.  For general IMAP and stuff, works fine.  Google is your friend.  Not found an ARFCOM of Android.  Would that be DROIDCOM?  Or ARFDROID?

That's kind of what I figured and why I am hopeful for the Playbook, but RIM is not known for it's flexibility.

Thanks.

I figure by the time it is all said and done, we will have to come up with a web-based system and then use whatever tech we can get our hands on to run it with.
