What are the current opinions on this?   It seems like it has gone away for the most part.    I'm getting ready to break in my AR10T and I  see it says to use moly coated Black Hills ammo, the paper is dated 2003 though.   I can only get this by ordering it and I'm not sure its worth bothering with but, I do want to follow their break in procedure and make sure i can get the accuracy this rifle is capable of.

I use them exclusively in my Hyper-Velocity varmint rifles, and have gotten about 10% longer throat life using moly.

I use them in no other gun, because I hate scrubbing with Kroil and JB Bore Paste.

I bought a Rem 700 in .17 Remington in '02. I scrubbed the bore and took it to the range with some factory Remington ammo. On the 22nd or so round it started keyholing due to fouling.

I moly'd a bunch of bullets for load develpment and moly coated the bore, A few range sessions went over 100 rounds without issue after I started using moly.

I wish I could say that the Rem 700 shot into a lot less then an inch using moly but it didn't.

I believe there is benefit to using moly in certain applications especially higher velocity rounds like mentioned previously.

I only shoot moly coated bullets through my .220 Swift because of the extreme velocities.

Hexagonal Boron Nitride is replacing moly.  It's better at doing whatever the hell it and moly are supposed to do apparently.

A lot cleaner to apply and safer to handle.  So safe in fact it is used in cosmetics as well as various lotions, cremes and shampoo products to add a slick silky feel.

I just clean bulllets, put in a tumbler with a bit of HBN and tumble.  They are not as pretty as the black moly coater or silvery Danzac( Tungsten Disulphide) coated bullets, but tend to have a frosted  duller appearance.   After you handle a few and some of the HBN gets on your fingers it is difficult to pick up a small coated bullet they are so slick.

It can also be added to oils or greases for more load bearing applications...

Solid blocks of this stuff is sometimes machined to make low speed bearings for some types of machine applications.

I moly coated my CMP AR bore... and honestly wish I hadn't. Now I can only shoot moly coated ammo in it or else I have to de-copper and re-moly coat.

edit: No complaints about accuracy though. It's a custom built Compass Lake AR and that sucker flat-out shoots...

You might call and get a line on their new break-in procedures, if any.

When I installed my match barrel on my CMP AR, I began molly coating. Back then, many claims were made, as time whent by fewer and fewer of these claims were still made . . .

One thing, though: you can always awe newbies with your super technical skills, and special molly bullets.

improved the accuracy tenfold in my guns.

so one inch groups are now .1"
even hardcore users wont admit that, It does help with faster velocities and maybe reduced wear, but incrising accuracy, never been proven
