Ok so after i get out of the service im going to make my way back up to the great white north and start my life over with the GI bill. Just wanted some help on which area is better.
I am an outdoorsman, and snow is in my blood. I don't mind living near a town but would rather not. Montpelier in VT looked promising but looks to be overrun but libtards. HELP!!!!
Thanks! |

I'd go with NH. It is under assault from liberal tax refugees from Mass (oh the irony) but in my opinion Vt is much much worse.
ETA: I spent my summers at Newfound Lake in NH and have relatives who live in the state. I also had relatives in VT, so I know something about both states. I am giving serious thought to NH as a place to live when I return to the US. |

But there goes that. NH it is. |

NH: NFA friendly CCW permit is shall issue, fee is $10 no sales tax no state income tax no Bernie Sanders VT: no CCW permit necessary sales tax state income tax no suppressors (NFA fail) Bernie Sanders (to be fair, NH has Jean Shaheene) What do you do? What do you want to do? I recommend Coos, Grafton, and Carroll counties. The rest are too close to MA. The most jobs are near MA, though. |

Love the avatar Bubbles, you could always go a little farther north to Sunnyvale. Back on subject, in making your decision, what are you looking for exactly? While I never lived in either state, I was raised in CT, spent several summers in VT, took a lot of trips to NH and my parents own a place in ME so I know my way around New England a little bit. |

Guardian,
Thank you for your service! Check out the Littleton NH area. The wife and I love it! We presently live behind enemy lines in New York State and are being suffocated by high taxes and lack of personal freedom (it frosts my ass that I spent 25 years in law enforcement yet can't order a high capacity mag over the internet...while Joe Blow who lives 10 miles away from me (in Pennsylvania) CAN! We did a lot of research between VT and NH. NH is the place to go...VT has some pluses but is basically overrun with hippie libtards driving Subarus plastered with Obama stickers. We are retired now and just waiting for the home market to bounce back so we can make the move. We purchased a few acres in Sugar Hill (near Franconia) a few years ago.We are both extremely right wing in our politics and look forward to adding our votes to helping keep New Hampshire the "Live Free Or Die" state.I swear I feel "free-er" when we cross the bridge from Wells River VT into Woodsville NH and all of a sudden I am wearing my seatbelt because I choose to and not because Big Brother has ordered it! NH will not tax my pension or my deferred compensation.NH does not tax social security and does not have a state sales tax. I have gotten online quotes for car insurance. The same coverage that costs us $2000 a year in NY is going to cost about $400 in NH! You can research it, but it is almost an understatement to say that NH is "gun friendly"! We subscribe to the local NH newspaper and are often amazed at the way things are done in NH (as compared to NY). Some tid-bits: Several years ago there was a story that the local school district was returning about 150 thousand dollars back to the town, county etc...it was a surplus and they didn't need it! ( would NEVER happen in NY) A local police dept (I think it was the Littleton PD) hired a young kid as a new officer. While he was attending the police academy, funding for his position was lost(due to this stank economy). The other officers in the dept voted to FOREGO their raises for the year and use the money to fund the kids position! I could go on but suffice to say...that's the kind of place that I want to live! |

Head to the mountains of the VA/WV border hell of a lot cooler then most of VA and plenty of snow. Any towns you might suggest? Monterey is a beautiful area...about 30 mins to the west of me. Pretty much all of Highland County. http://www.highlandcounty.org/ |
