SA Milspec 1911 with one mag of 230 gr FMJ
or Dedicated .22 AR (Spikes or CMMG) with a couple of 26 round mags of CCI Mini Mags Assume both are equally reliable. (I think I know how this will go, but I was surprised by the answers a few buddies gave the other day at lunch.) |

Personally, I'll take a long gun over a handgun, even with the caliber difference. Making hits is easier and faster. And if it's my home defense gun, it's going to have a light on it, which is going to be much easier to do with a long gun.
Also, I don't know how many people are in my house. I'm going to go with the larger mags. .22 from a rifle is nothing to sneeze at. Many brands of HP will expand and still meet the FBI minimum. |
