The Castle Doctrine has cleared the State House and now awaits Governor Rendell's signature on Tuesday Oct. 12. Please write to him or email him! You are required to contact him electronically via his website before you can make voice contact with him. I did that and also am mailing a letter tomorrow morning.

We need this castle doctrine. All anti-gun amendments to it that the antis tried to attach were defeated. The bill is written such that it cannot be modified if it is passed. We've been trying for six years to get this. We're close to getting this. Help the cause and contact the Governor.

October 6, 2010

Governor Edward G. Rendell
225 Main Capitol Building
Harrisburg, PA 17120

Dear Governor Rendell:

I am contacting you about the Castle Doctrine bill which has just cleared the State House and is awaiting your signature. I would like you to sign the bill.

I live in Williamsport, a city in which crime is increasing. In September of this year, someone entered vehicles at three residences on my street at night and stole valuables from them. My mother's vehicle was among the ones that were robbed. There has also been an increase in vandalism in Williamsport. I read about shootings and drug arrests in the downtown area in the newspaper, and am reminded that I do not live far from it. In general, things are going downhill in Williamsport.

As I leave for Air Force basic training soon, there will be one less person in my home to protect my mother, who is advancing in age. I therefore urge you to sign the bill, which will deter crime in an area in which criminals are becoming bolder. I am counting on you.

Sincerely,
(signed name)

Pretty sure Rendell signed at least one other pro-gun item in recent years.

This is a worthwhile effort, especially in an election year (Rendell is done, but his office may be sensitive to Onorato, whose campaign they are supporting)

A polite letter right now is most appropriate.
