[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Concealed Carry at Work - Poll Added (Page 1 of 2)

How do most of you all carry concealed at work? I know a lot of companies have strict policies against this practice and I'm just curious what methods people use when that is the case (not to get fired). I would think conventional carry IWB/OWB on a belt wouldn't be too easy in a dress shirt and tie. I'm in no way advocating breaking the law BTW, just to make that clear.

I dress business casual at work, and firearms are a no go @work.
That being said, I work at a desk, all day. I carry a back pack every day with my lunch and "personal belongings". Last month all us managers had to take a class on "Threat management, how to deal with an active shooter". I had a hard time just being a lemming

Glock 19 or 1911 both have Bladetech IWB rigs for them. I carry two reloads with each either one I am carrying. I wear an untucked button up long sleeve shirt. It's pretty informal, we are outside all day, and usually by ourselves driving place to place.
Boss is a gun nut, not quite like me, but the conversation has never come up about me carrying. Kind of a don't ask, don't tell. |

I carry a Glock 17 IWB 24/7/365. I've been gunsmithing for 2 years as of last month. Worked at a gunrange for a full year before that. So they were very permissive environments. But I was still one of only two people who carried religiously at the gun range, and I'm the only one who carries in the smithing shop. I only do concealed. Before that, I worked in a motorcycle shop that had a no weapons policy. Never got caught, concealed means concealed. I always have a loaded 870 shotgun on my toolbox at work now. And usually my loaded AR leaned up against my shelf. |

Well, first of, i live in Illinois. Flatly illegal for the loi polloi to pack a heater.
Firearms possession is an instant termination offense where i work. If i turned up hot on a rad contamination frisk and had to take off clothes, i'd be 100% fucked. We also do a lot of intense physical stuff, including working in heavy water spray, and dead sprints. it would be very hard not to print or expose. So no, not ever. I would if i could, as my workspace, "the" control room, is a nice target of anyone who wants to make a statement against something, with a wall of windows for everyone to watch me work, which happens frequently. I don't even carry in my ruck, which i could 99.9% be sure of nobody rummaging around in. I could never get a job this good again, ever, and i make decent coin and we're relatively safe, at until we're not. I do carry several chemical and edged weaps and a couple other bright ideas, but in aggregate they wouldn't beat a .32 keltec, they're mostly control room toys for show and tell and bad dogs. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Interesting answers so far. Is thunderwear pretty comfortable? Did you worry about your apparatus when wearing it? Yes, no. Ditto for SmartCarry. If I were to carry, I'd bet a Glock 26 in one of those would be just the ticket. Just brainstorming. |
| Kahr PM9 IWB with a tucked in polo or button down. I work as a property manager in midtown KC and there are murders and shootings not very far from my building on a to often basis. Not gunna chance it. I've never heard my bosses say anything about guns, and there is nothing in the employee handbook about them either so... |
| I am in and out of the public's houses every day and am sure many would be bothered if I carried and they knew. Out of respect, I leave it in the truck. I usually have a razor knife, several sharp screwdrivers, big heavy pliers, and huge aluminum pipe wrenches to protect myself. |

concealed means concealed This. Fuck "Policy". My life > my job. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I would carry my LCP without anyone noticing when I worked in a "Gun Free Zone" "Kill Zone". Now I carry IWB or pocket depending on where/what's going on. Long trips the AR is in the vehicle, or bag. Remember you don't get to decide where and when a gun fight takes place. |

When I worked in the motorcycle shop, I was always bending over motorcycles, working on the ground, climbing over things, and pushing bikes up ramps into trucks, usually all in front of customers and/or management. I carried a 5" 1911 IWB 3:30 back then. Never got caught, never even close. Company policy said no weapons. |
| G19 or G26 always on me IWB. It goes in the backpack only if I know I'm going to be doing a lot of under desk work and carrying IWB would be uncomfortable. Carrying is expressly and intentionally not prohibited in our employee handbook. We are a very 2A friendly environment for a private, non-LEO business and the only "policy" regarding firearms is we are prohibited to carry where not legally permitted. |

In a Galco Ankle glove.
The CCW in your backpack at your cubicle is as usefull as it being locked in your car when shit hits the fan and your in the restroom. Unless you have IBS, I think this would be a small concern. I think I spend 2 minutes a day in the restroom. And about 7.5 hours a day at my desk. Not allowed here, the rules of ADP. |

You missed pocket and other.
G19 on my hip. S&W 642 in an ankle or pocket holster By this time next year it will be a Nighthawk Custom 1911 in a Galco Jackass rig and a S&W 342PD on my ankle. Going to be wearing a suit everyday for the rest of my working life after May 10th. Might as well be comfortable. |
