I have heard that spouse battering occurs more frequently among law enforcement officers, owing (it's thought) to the high-stress job. Is this true? Can anyone corroborate? I can believe that. You hold all that in during your shift. The anger, stress has to come out eventually |

Friend of mine asked me for cop advice this week.......His daughter is married to a newly minted cop (two or three years) who, after returning from his pilgrimege to mecca, decided to tell his wife she is no longer allowed to work or even leave the house without him. She went out shopping with her sisters and when he found out, he pointed a gun at them (twice). He threatened to kill them both for being "sluts". My advice for the father of the wife was lets go call IAB right now. He no longer has a gun and will eventually be fired. There are bad apples in every bunch....doctors, lawyers, teachers, preachers and construction workers. We are all Human first.

But it is not just one apple in a dozen its eleven bad apples in a dozen, from all my experience and IMNSHO. I work very closely with law enforcement and most of them are damn fine men. A handful give the rest a bad name. I feel the same way about judges. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

If you even have an argument with a girlfriend/wife and she reports it, you are automatically suspended. The reports of alcoholism and wife beating among police are holdover stereotypes from the days when police were drawn from lower social classes, among whom such behaviors were common. ETA: speeling |

ETA: speeling alcoholism and wife beating only happen in "lower" social classes? My department went through every avenue to find out if I had a drinking problem or anger issues. I really don't know what else they can do to try to weed people out. If any one of the officers I work with were to be involved in domestic violence, I would be shocked. Truly top shelf group of guys. But let the bashing continue. |
