I have a couple questions.
I have the unlimited data plan with Verizon. I'm want to tether it to my lap top and my xbox. I don't want to play MW2 or halo off it, I want to get my team builder on there for NCAA Football 11 and get the Nike pro combat uni's. I have heard that Verizon will see the data usage increase and charge more, does anyone know if they will do this with the unlimited data plan? I keep seeing ways to tether but you have to root it. Are there any negatives to rooting, will it do any harm, void the warranty or protection plan? Anything other words of wisdom ont he subject would be appreciated. Thanks in advance |

Thanks in advance i dont think verizon has a true "unlimited" plan. its actually 5 gb a month or something like that as for rooting if you follow the instructions to root perfectly, there are no drawbacks. it will technically void the warranty, but if you have a warranty issue you can always remove the root |

Last month alone I used 11GB worth of data and have been doing this for 4 months and have never gotten any extra charges. As for tethering it to an Xbox 360 I have tried it unsuccessfully several times. I don't think the 360 supports an ad-hoc connection which is what tethering would be, but if there is a way to get it to work I haven't figured it out yet and I've tried everything. |

The 5 GB a month limit on their unlimited plan is for their wireless cards.
If you tether, without their app, its a violation of their TOS. If they check out your packets and find that you're doing this, they can slap you with some pretty big fees. Do they do this ll the time? No, they have bigger fish to fry, so dont become the biggest fish. |

Also if you root most likely you would disable the auto updates, you would not get 2.2 right away unless you go with a non carrier ROM. Non carrier roms usually work better since updates are released weekly or daily. If your only reason is for wireless tether and you have not messed with the phones internal software before and what goes along with it..wait..dont rush into it. |
