Sorry SAC but the Western side of the state isn't as shitty as the rest of the unionized crap hole that the western side brings to the forefront. Small town attitudes for the small towns that speckle the western shore. Its a lot like Illinois Detroit and the unions break the back of the rest of the hardworking state.
I think the commercials are funny, but don't like how Michigan is perceived. |

We spent one week going from Mears all the way to Traverse City...all I saw was closed down and for sale properties outside of the tourist spots...even downtown Manistee along river street is dead.. The whole state is hit. Looking forward to being able to pull out one day. |

Do that trip every month.(Live right about in Mears) I agree with those findings as well, though the farther north, the better it seems to get. |

Pretty good stuff.
I wouldn't want to have to make a living and be a resident there, but the upper half of the LP and the UP are pretty good places to visit for outdoors type things. I avoid the cities. First time I've heard of mayflies being called fish flies. |
|
Isn't that true about the fish flies and lake St. Clair. Yuck.
And everything closes in Grosse Pointe's village at 9 so that the riff raff stays away. LOL Listen, you want a nice vacation head up north. Lakes, islands, wine country. There's nothing down here worth vacation time; but I think most people are already aware of that. |

Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Traverse City and Marquette. Yep I'm a bit of a nomad. Beautiful state, still miss it. |

Friend of mine worked in their Juvenile detention center for several years. Lived in Berrien Springs. He works for a wyoming sheriffs department now and is much happier. |

warms my heart Born and raised in MI and then I got the fuck out. Politics ruined that state. Royal Oak! man that place is fucking terrible now, It was much different over a decade ago. Douche bags to say the least. damn some of this stuff looks so different (worse) than 10 years ago... even Gibralter trade center looks more generic.. It was more interesting before. |
