Nor read the article:

"Statistics Canada said the higher unemployment rate resulted from another 53,500 people looking for work."

They are only counting people in the unemployment rate who are both unemployed and looking for work.

The Private sector added jobs but the unemployment rate went up .MSM putting their best spin on a bad situation.

its just confusing because you guys use the metric system. once you convert it, it will make sense.
