I picked Nosferatu, because he was the most true to the vampire legend. An ancient denizen of the darkness, motivated only by the thirst for blood, his vampire is powerful, yet pathetic. We fear him because he is not unlike us, yet inhabits the netherworld between life and death, trapped in a dark and twisted world that threatens the living. Bela Lugosi brought 'sexiness' to the character, and all the ones that followed were either urbane time-travelers who reveled in the cult of personality their powers bestowed upon them, or were simply beasts who ruled the night.
