Time to lighten the load. Play time is over. Life was fun for a long time. Shit just don't look real good, anywhere I look. I'm done worrying about it.

Sold the Harley, paying off all debt except my 100 MPG BOV (I can handle $100), and even stash a bit.

Paying off the house is my new target, 4years.

I hope we all make it that long, gonna be a bumpy ride for many. I refuse to get on that bus.

Carry on.

I'm with ya there.  I'm living ok with debt, but the toys need to go until I get all the stupid debt paid off (except the mortage).

Sold all my reloading equipment and seriously starting to think about selling all my firearms save my CCW and nightstand pistol.

Cutting off the satellite tv when the contract is up next month, too.

Understood.

I'm just done w/"OK" - not an easy decision to make.

No "cable" here, HD off-air antenna thingie for a year or 2.

Can't get rid of the reloading stuff after 20 years, comes in handy.

Sold off thousands of $ of toys this year - telescopes, reef tanks, all kinds of junk. Started a garden, doing the home improvements (lower the electric bill etc etc etc).

Thinnking on this line as well.

Right now have no car payments - both of them relatively high mileage but I am working to keep them going.

Credit card debt is low - almost paid off.

Mortgage and home equity loan from garage build is the big ticket right now.

If I can get youngest thru college I'll be doing good.  May have to thin the arsenal because its the only hobbie I have that has anything of value in it.   Hate to do it but may have to go that route.

House will be paid off in 6 yrs or sooner, both vehicles (06's) will be paid off in less than a year. No cc debt either.
I have been giving thought to buying a cabin or an acre lot in a remote part of N Az though, but the current state of the economy and the uncertain times ahead really have me reconsidering the cabin/acreage thing. Tough call...would love to get the hell out of town.

Should have all debts paid off next week except the car and mortgage.

Had to buy the car for my 45 minute commute but plan on having that paid off by July 2012.  ($16,000)

I also pay $100 - $200 extra per month on the house but have a ways to go on that one.  Hopefully the market picks up in the next few years and the values go up a little.

Also looking at buying some land somewhere and putting a cabin or hunting shack out there to get away but I like having no debts and having a years worth of living money in savings which I am almost up to.

House will be paid off around December or January, then it's squirrel away time as there's no other debt. As soon as O got elected I accelerated paying of the car and it's only got 33K miles on it.

As with most of my acquaintances, I really don't have a strong idea about what to do with the pitifully weakened nest egg.

Good luck to all of ya.

5 years should do the trick.

Good luck to you. The Greer area is beautiful, as I assume you already know.
I'm contemplating a move west of there, and much sooner. Great time to buy, though it might be even better a yr or so from now....provided I'm still employed.

Nice to hear!  We should be done with everything but mortgage debt by early spring next year.  Then we attack the home mortgage, then the rental mortgage.

I understand your reasoning and it is very mature, but I'd have a hard time selling my motorcycle.
