I remember coming throught the airport in Shannon, Ireland and they were giving free samples of Midleton's Irish Whiskey which was selling for about $150 a bottle.  I hate whiskey but that was one I could get used to if it weren't for the price.

I bought a bottle for my Dad since I usually don't bring him back souveniers from overseas.  Definately worth the money to keep a bottle in the house.

WHAT!?!?!?!

That stuff is terrible compared to Jamesons. I bought it one time because it was cheaper.

Jamesons is my preferred drink, but it's largely because I don't want to sink money into the really good stuff.

If you like Jameson... and I do! You should try to get a hold of Crested Ten.I haven't been able to find it outside of Ireland but I haven't really searched lately.

Paddy is available here now (again?) too.

Haha, I went to a little jazz lounge in OKC once and the bar tender was griping about the college kids coming in and asking for one or the other even though they probably didn't care about religion otherwise.

I actually agree with the part about Jamesons being a trendy drink. When I first started drinking it I almost had to get lucky for a place to have it. Now it's everywhere and I don't get funny looks when I order it straight.

Then again, it's hard to complain when it's available most places.

And try a bottle of Redbreast.

12 or 15-year old pure pot still whiskey.  Alond with Green Spot, its the only pure pot still whiskey.  And pot still is the traditional Irish distilling method.

I tried a bottle of Jameson after I'd been drinking Pendleton for awhile.

The Jameson tasted like what I can only imagine as an Irishman's sweaty balls after a hard day in the field pulling taters.

I'll stick to Pendleton...or Crown if I'm out and about and Pendleton isn't available.

Middleton's is definitely the best.

Jameson's is good for affordable stuff.

Yes. But if you mix it with cola, angels will cry, the hole in the ozone layer will increase,  and your mother will curse your name. And i believe in certain states you can (and should) be shot on sight.
