So, I seem to have problems driving and am tired of just "dealing with it" and want a recourse. I live out in the coutry a bit the last part is 8 miles of country highway that is marked at 55mph. I'm not going to lie, 55 mph feels really slow and I catch my self speeding usually around 60mph. This particular highway is very flat. I can see at least a mile most of the time. Anyway, today while driving home I came up on a guy doing around 55 mph I would estimate faster by a mile or two. I was doing 60 when I realized I was coming close enough to be a problem so I signaled and just kept going at 60. As soon as I got next to him he floored it. This happens to me at least once a month. The other thing that happens is people will break check me when I come up on them. This doesn't bother me one bit as I'm following with plenty of distance but I would definitely call it mean.
Anyway, what would you do if you went to pass some one to avoid tailgating them and they took off like that? Can I call the cops and give them a license plate? Will they care? |

Seriously, I would probably get pissed at that very moment. What seems so insignificant now, really is stressful right when it happens. Last time someone pulled out in front of me and slowed waaay down, I decided to pass him and my passing lane ran out..and I got a ticket. Just watch out.
If the person sped up considerably, great!, get back behind him and continue. If he procede to speed up and slow down(road rage) I think you would absolutely be able to call the cops but I would reserve that to the last option... Now for a slightly less likely solution, get a high horse diesel that doesn't reburn the spent fuel and when he floors it...so do you! and literally leave him in your smoke trail! Good luck, don't let road rage get the best of you even if the rage may be someone elses. Life is too short. |

Well, I forgot to add that part. If I let them speed a away the last two will break check me when I come up behind them the next time...while they are doing 45. Today's moron did not.
fyi I drive a 3/4 ton cummins with a 3 inch lift.. It will pull to 110 then govern out. But I don't want a race I want to be left alone, get home, kiss my wife and watch TV with my dog. A wreck would seriously piss me off. |

do the cops care? I have no indication that cops care when you report some one...I may be wrong though??? They care. If they think it's a drunk driver they'll roll. Person might get pulled over for scrutiny down the road. Hassle at the very least, could lead to something bigger. |

Quoted: Quoted: people want to call the cops over shit like this, and on break checks. And to think that people wonder why we live in a police state.so, then tell me what you do? Don't be a pussy. Just pass him, or be content following. Lead, Follow, or Get the fuck out of the way. |

To the OP, the guy you tried to pass probably wasn't even aware of you. Nobody is paying attention, even if they aren't on the phone, playing with the radio, etc., no one is really driving, they're all on autopilot. |

It is not a crime and it shouldn't be a crime. Was the other driver an asshole? Yes, but being an asshole is not a crime. Too many people use the police for dumb issues that don't need police involvement. |

Quoted: get yourself a full sized pickup with around 400 hp and let them try that shit. This is my solution. My Dmax is a little quick for a big 'ol diesel. I'll usually edge their lane while I'm at it. Or stop crossways in the road once I'm past them. Shit pisses me off. |
