Anybody have thoughts on a PSL?  I'm considering trading for one.

It is a DMR style rifle with a AK based action,

It IS NOT a Dragunov or SVD.

just know that the PSL is an AK enlarged for the 7.62x54 cartridge, so don't expect great accuracy.

Other than that, I've never met an unsatisfied PSL owner.

saw one fall apart at the range after about 100 shots , guy was using some heavy bullet ammo I guess was the issue. it was about 3 MOA and got worse as it heated up.. but then again it fell apart  Im not a PSL hater , just saying...

hahaha. wow. but yeah, i've heard you're not supposed to use heavier than 140gr, cause the receiver cant take the abuse.

They're a hoot. Love mine!

ETA: stick to 150gr and lower and you'll be fine in the ammo department

A .308 Saiga has common to find ammo, can take mags holding more than 10 rounds, and is more accurate on average.

Get into reloading first.  You will need to "roll your own" to get best results at anything past 300m.  That said and M-1A will probably outperform it in every capacity but at 3 times the price.

If someone made 20 round magazines I'd buy one of those Waffen Works PSL turned AK rifles.  AK-54 I think they call them.

Love mine too.  Here is my son shooting it.  Got the PSL from AIM, and most of the ammo.  Polish and Russian light ball.

This.  Which most people somehow "miss" when they buy a PSL

I love mine (now that I figured out how to sight in

Best 5 shot /100yd group so far is 2.1" with surplus Cz 147 ball, though most groups are around 3.5" for me

yeah, it's a minute-of-man rifle.

My first one lasted about 80 rounds and the receiver failed.  Replacement has about 400 rounds through her and working fine.  Mags are a big issue.  The ones that came with my two rifles were not so great.  Got some slightly rusted ones form Apex and five of the six I got were good.  Rifle itself is fun to shoot.  No tack drive as it heats up, but still pretty good.

Oh just buy one already

Semiauto 30-cal centerfire for $600 (including optic!), cheap ammo everywhere, very low recoil (similar to a 7.62x39 AK to me), and they look cool as hell

I paid $800 for mine and don't feel ripped off in the least, this is by far the best bang for your buck for a "fun gun"

I have one, and have been very pleased.

No, it is not a true sniper rifle, but I was able to (after sighting it in) hit a 5 inch metal plate at 200 yards with no problem (using surplus ammo).

The biggest problem is that scope (love the optics look ––the graduations and all), but the adjustements are insane.

Has anybody chopped the barrel ala Mini 14 to help improve accuracy after long strings of fire?  I've heard that spaghetti barrel can get a little whip like when it gets hot and accuracy suffers.

There's one on the EE for trade or $550 I'm considering.
