So after reading an article, the wife suggested we use Netflix to watch the series.  Sounded good to me. I've read where ARFCOM suggested it a few times.

Well, we made it to episode 7 before we completely lost interest.  The script is so corny and predictable and the acting is really not good.  It's just gotten really hard to watch and it doesn't seem very realistic or even plausible.  Sure, the major events are, but how people react and a lot of the smaller events are setup more for drama, making it even more corny.

What are your thoughts?

Great show. Stick with it.  It gets better towards the end.

I really liked it! I wish it hadn't ended!

I thought it was a great show.  Season 2 kind of pissed me off though.

PSA: The actress who played Mary Baily shows off her tits in Season 1, Episode 7 of Weeds.

The first half of each season sucks.  The second half is awesome.  Even during the suckitude, there are brilliant flashes of conservatism and patriotism.

I hear ya, just like The Unit.

They both have guns and aren't American Idol.

I enjoyed it a lot. Wife liked it too...

2 or 3 times while we watched the series on DVD she would turn to me and say "Do we need any more (ammo, food, random other preparation)" ... Love that girl.

Sounds like you don't watch much network TV.

I'll save you some time and strain on your Netflix account:  Jericho was actually one of the better network series of the past couple of decades, and arguably the best (certainly in the top 3) that CBS has offered in that time.

Just stick to the better movies and "cable" series instead.

Oh man, the SHTF TV show wasn't up to my survivalist jedi standards.

Now what are the wife and I going to watch while we're canning peaches and vacuum sealing rice?

[#10]
They did continue the storyline in comic book form IIRC

I was watching Jericho the last time I vacuum sealed a bunch of rice.

I own it.
Liked it a lot.

Only thing on television I've liked better in recent times is the John Adams series from HBO

The options for decent SHTF shows are pretty short, but I enjoyed Jericho and Jeremiah.

I liked it, but it did get into SHTF-soap-opera territory.  I think it was a victim of the network trying to make it appeal to wider audience.

I agree. But my contentions were pretty minor.

I wish it would have been allowed to stick around longer so the major plot threads could have been tied up satisfactorily.

DVD only it was on instant until a few months ago.

I liked the show, dispite being a little unrealistic, it was still better than 99% of the crap thats on today.

Personally, I wanted more Republic of Texas action, but then it got teh cancelled.

They say the government put pressure on them to end the series. Someone else was set to pick it up and they were denied. Actors were bottom of the barrel though.

I liked it enough that I bought the two seasons on DVD.  Some episodes were sucky, some storylines were sucky.   All in all though, good series.  It ended too soon though.  I wanted to see how Texas was going to kick Cheyenne's ass.

I agree with the OP. Horrible writing, contrived plot, bad acting, and utterly implausible (apart from the overall premise). We wanted to like it, but thought it was a total POS.

Loved the show. Me and the kids eagerly awaited it every week. Yeah... there was plenty of "corn and cheese" there that bugged me. But overall I still really enjoyed it. I too wish it would have come to a more thorough end and not the hurridly, loose-endy way it did.

And yeah... I too thought Hawkins was "the man". The only guy who ever seemed to know his head from his ass. I liked Jake at first, but he just got to be stupid.

(I just always wrote that off to, "Meh, it's TV." A quick scene of some of the characters building a still could have solved the whole thing. Fucking writers can't write anymore.)

.......well actually they showed Green showing Mary how to coil the tubing with sand, and had the characters talk about how awful the rotgut home brew was.. also used it in the hospital a few times....

I enjoyed it. Made the wife realize prepping isn't silly.

Just a few ol boys watching over the town. Having been from a small town where everyone has dozens of firearms, I think they were VERY undergunned, til Hawkins showed up!
