Had this for the first time today. Freaking amazing beer, never thought this Mexican beer would be just as awesome as real deal German Dunkels. |

Quoted: What do you expect? They follow German brewing practices. Except for Bohemia which is a Czech style. Mexico never had prohibition. During our prohibition, breweries switched to near-beer. When prohibition was repealed, drinkers favored the near-beer taste. You bring up a good point. Americans forgot what real beer was after prohibition. |

Quoted: Yep it was pretty good dude, nice flavor. Ive been wanting to try it for a while now. I just can't get drunk no more after watching how much my dad drank today I'm still trying to figure out how he drank an entire bottle of 100 proof rum and part of another bottle of rum within a relatively short amount of time and not die. |

Not my favorite, but one of the best from south of the border. NOT A DINNER PIC....but it is relevant to the thread. snowshoe hare + alaskan sausage. Had a very sweet flavor. No beans in this one....in fact it's the chili that converted me from beans to no-beans. http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp101/savageoneseven/arf/alaskanchili.jpg eta: dammit....now I'm hungry. WOW that looks amazing. |

That brown bottle with the lovely foil wrap is the best-kept secret in beer drinking today. I WILL NEVER order a Corona in a mexican joint EVER again. That beer has a rich flavor, it is creamy, it has a great texture. I wish they would sneek some into a Sam Adams variety pack. Oh yeah, it'll git ya drunk. |

The USA has world class breweries producing some of the best beer out there. |

People didn't remember that traditionally made ale and lager has flavor. Things are better today, but people still think light beer is beer. |

Premium Mexican beer recipes like Negra Modelo and Dos XX are traced back to the arrival of German
immigrants in the 19th century. By 1918 there were 36 brewing companies. Consolidation has reduced that to basically two major brewing companies that control 90% of the Mexican market. Negro Modelo has outstanding flavor. |

I had two last night.
