For the last few nights I've woken up from a dead sleep and I've been soaking wet. So much so that the sheets and comforter are soaking wet. I feel absolutely fine during the day. Well, minus the fatigue. I've not been getting a whole lot of sleep over the last two weeks becuase of work and been stressed so that explains the fatigue to me. But hell, it's like I have mono again or something, jeez. Just so we're covered, no, I don' have da Aids. Anyone have a guess as to WTF is wrong with me? UPDATE!!! For anyone who gives a shit. Anyway, I had blood drawn last week and got a phone call yesterday. They said my labs were "concerning" and that I needed to come in. So, off I went to medical yesterday. My white blood cell count was low. How low, I don't know but it concerned the LT. I saw. Liver, spleen and Kidney functions are fine. Liver and spleen are not swollen. Lungs are clear and none of my lymph nodes are swollen. He asked me a boatload of questions. He basically said, "You're an anomoly" since he couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. The only thing he found interesting was a mole on my back that he wants removed as he said "It's basically saying everything that's wrong with a mole is wrong with that one". Anyway the low grade fever after 1600 continues. The fatigue is starting to become cripling for a couple of hours a day and my appetite is still about half of what it used to be. The night sweats are coming and going. I just don't want to feel like shit anymore. Oh, the list of things he said: Cancer, HIV, Mono, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I don't have Malaria or Diabete's so I guess that's a good start. He ordered another blood draw. They checked for: HIV, Mono, Vit D difficiency (why would they do that?), Some other vitamin deficiency test and a normail blood draw. I guess I'll find out the results on Thursday. Wish me luck. UPDATE 2!!!!! I saw a different doc today. A civillian doc. He was well informed of what my situation was and had personally spoken to the LT I saw the other day. Anyway.... Ok, so I don't have HIV or MONO. Those test's came back negative. Something did come back in my blood work to indicate a possible parasite of some sort so they're furthering the test's in that department. They looked at the mole on my back again and took pictures this time. There is a golf ball size white halo around one of the moles. As in, the skin is stark white around the mole. It was "concerning" to the doc that I saw today. I have to go see a dermatologist soon. Other new words that popped up today. Diverticulitus (spelling?), CT Scan and Colonoscopy. What. The. Fuck. I'm 28. So, as it stands as of today. It could be Colon issues, Blood Parasite or Cancer. I have to go see three specialist's sometime soon so I guess no more updates to those of you who are following this. Oh, I almost forgot. He's the THIRD person I've seen who has mentioned TB. I mean, as in, "Hrmmm, it really looks like TB" with a really quizical look about them. Yet they just shrug it off. So, today I asked tons of questions about everything he mentioned. How things are treated etc. etc. Well, he said that magic two letter word so I said, "You're the third person who has mentioned TB. Yet, no one has tested me for it. Do you think I aught to get checked?" he just looked at me, paused and apologized for me even having to ask. So, Tuesday I'll have a TB test administered. UPDATE 3: OK, so I never got my labs back from last time. However, I did get a phone call tonight (05JUL) at 830 PM from the family practitioner that I saw. That in and of itself I thought was very strange and worried me immediately. Anyway, my white blood count continues to be low. My Liver enzymes were highly elevated. He asked me how I felt and I said, " You know, on Saturday and Sunday I've felt absolutely fine." I mean, I've started eating again and have had energy. When I realized that I had energy again on Saturday I just took it easy, nice and slow just so I didn't burn out incase it was a fluke. Well, today I feel ok and have been eating but have felt a little tired all day. So, anyway, He said if I felt like crap today that I should just go to the ER but I don't feel like crap so here I am on ARF. He told me to go to medical in the morning to have labs drawn immediately. He asked again about possible exposure to Malaria and when the last time was. He also asked if I've ever had Hep. A/B/or C. I've had the vaccine for the first two but honestly, I don't know if I've ever been exposed. UPDATE 4: OK, since I'm falling down on the job and people are inquiring, there isn't much to update about but I'll spill what I have so far. I went to derm last week. They took a nice scoop of flesh out of the lower portion of my back to test it for melanoma. They said that it was most likely going to come back negative and not to worry. They asked why I was there in the first place and I had to give them my story all over again. Well, I guess they actually decided to pull up my file in the computer after asking me while I was there. They said that my counts looked like they were going back to normal but who knows. I have felt better. The night sweats have stoped for the most part. I had them last Tuesday and that's it. Appetite is kind of back. I can eat a whole meal but it's been about 1 meal a day. Fever is completely gone. Fatigue on the other hand kicked my ass Sunday and yesterday. I have to go in tomorrow to see another Doc. I spoke with the HS at my unit and he said " They're probably never going to find out what's wrong with you. Since most of your symptoms have self resolved, they'll just say you had a virus type illness and send you on your way". Well, aint that grand. Folks, this is what you're going to get with ObamaCare. Hope you don't have something that will kill you in a short amount of time. Oh, I have a CT scan sometime in the next few weeks. I have to call them back to make my appointment since my referral was screwed up and had to be resubmitted. That's a whole nother story of red tape ridiculousness. ETA: No mono, HIV/AIDS, Parasites, negative for Malaria, No Hep and NO TB. They still haven't tested for Lyme's or Lupus. Update 5: I just got back from the Doc. Due to what he is seeing in my blood work he is seriously starting to think Liver Cancer or even Leukemia. My body is destroying red blood cells faster than it can produce them. When my white count was low my bone marrow sent out it's troops to fight the good fight. He did a abdominal exam and my liver is very tender to the touch. He does not like what he's seeing. I go in for a CT Scan Monday and they're looking for sclrosis of the liver, tumors, worms...whatever else they can think to look for. Depending on what comes back, I might end up having a bone marrow biopsy. So, I know half of GD doesn't believe in any sort of God but if you do, prayers sure would be appreciated. Update 6: Well, I had the CT scan yesterday and I went in for my follow up today. I must say that Barium milkshakes do not bring all the boys to the yard. Those things are disgusting! Anyway, they didn't find squat which is a good thing I guess. The only thing that came back was that my spleen was slightly enlarged. Last they checked, my white cell count was fine and that my body was killing off red blood cells faster than it could produce them. I guess my Liver enzymes were still elevated AST's were at 131 and ALT's were at 357. Both of those used to be at 397 and 788. respectively. To give you non Doc types an idea as to how that's supposed to be the AST range is supposed to be 15-41 and the ALT range is 17-63. Sorry if I can't explane it more in depth. I'm just reading off of my labs right now. My Lymphocyte count is still elevated at 69. Throughout the start of this, those counts have been high every time and have not waivered at all. So anyway my doc said, I don't see much reason to stick you today but I insisted that they draw blood. I mean, it would be nice to see what the hell my blood is saying after two weeks of nothing. So he agreed. I get the results in the morning. Funny how socialized health care can go from a snails pace to expedient when someone is facing cancer. Anyway, the new prognosis is that Mono is back in play for a possible diagnosis along with Epstein Barr. Also in the lineup is Leukemia and Burkitt's Lymphoma. The doc checked lymp nodes again with neg. res. and he also damn near crushed my balls in a futile attempt to make sure that I didn't have testicular cancer. I've been referred out to a Hemotologist/Oncologist and possibly have an appointment tomorrow morning (waiting on a phone call) and at the latest, Thursday. They're looking at the big C a little more seriously and want to rule it out for good. I'll keep y'all updated. ETA: Doc said I was showing "B" symptoms...not sure what that means. Mr. Psmith cleared that up. 7thupdate OK, so I'm not seeing anyone at the Navy base anymore. I'm at a civillian Oncologist. I saw him on Monday and they just did the standard..why are you here to see us thing. Anyway, they took 8 vials of blood on Monday. Today I went in and had a Bone Marrow biopsy. If you've never had the pleasure of having one, pass on it if you can. It's not extremely painful but it aint all sunshine and rainbows. We discussed my labs today. My spleen is still slightly enlarged and the lymphocite count in my blood is still FUBAR. Everything else is starting to look normal. Anyway, I got back to see him next Friday to talk about the biopsy today, do some more blood work and whatnot. Anyway, I have a CT Scan of my chest and a Ultrasound of my liver/Gallbladder sometime in the near future....That's it for now. Final Update. OK boys and girls. Time for the good news. No cancer. Turns out I had two viruses at once. Epstein Barr and Cytomegalovirus. I guess I'm just in the lucky 5-10% of the population. He couldn't explain either to me because he wasn't an infectious disease doctor. All I know is I just have to watch myself and stop when I get tired. My spleen is still on the mend so he said to take it easy for a little while longer. He said that I have probably had this thing for the last 3-5 months. No wonder my run time wat horrendous! Anyway, thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it. I'm just happy that this can be laid to rest and that I don't have the big C! |

You either have the AC cranked up so much that you are burried under the comforter and raising you body heat, or, it isnt cranked up enough.
If I fall asleep with the AC lower than 66ish I wind up sweating because I'm all covered up. Anything over 70 and sweat cause its too damn warm. |
| The only time I sweat heavily during the night is when, 1. it's hot or 2. when I'm dreaming. If I'm having a really bad dream/nightmare the sweating is HEAVY. I finally figured the cause of the sweating after many years of thinking WTF? I rarely remember my dreams, but after some very strange and violent ones I fnally pieced it all together. |

Any new medication changes lately? As in going on or stopping something? That's what happened to me a few times.... Doc put me on anti-depressants (I didn't reall notice a difference except for the side-effects), even though I wasn't keen on the idea. Well, one of the side-effects was apparently night-sweats, and YES, they suck as bad as they sound for those that don't know. Against commerical, interwebz and doc's advice, I took MYSELF off them, didn't kill myself and now have no night sweats. Just a personal anecdote....
.... or you may be watching too much ghey pr0n before bed. Dream of Peter North and you want up feeling like you were with him, you fhag!

Got any joint pain ?
A few years ago I had the same thing happening . Drenching night sweats . After a month I figured I should go to the Dr to see how long I had left . Turned out to be Infectious arthritis caused by Lyme disease , The only noticeable joint pain was in my shoulders , and it wasn't even that bad . Just a mild soreness I attributed to doing a lot of overhead work . After a couple IV antibiotic treatments the sweats went away . The shoulder pain took a month of Cefotaxime . |

This happens to me all the time too, some times it is less frequent than others, but it bugs the shit out of me. Often times I will wake up freezing when the puddle of sweat cools down.
On the bad nights, I have had to switch the end of the bed my torso is on, other times there has been so much sweat that I have had to get out and sleep on the floor. Sometimes it will happen 2-3 times in a night, each time soaking the new spot I slept in. I can't remember having any dreams in a very long time. I'm 24, in very good shape, full time student, former Marine. Have you noticed any connection between anything happening in the day and the sweating at night? This is an incredibly frustrating thing and I feel your pain man. I haven't connected it to anything yet, but it definitely concerns me. |

I had that problem several years ago until I got rid of the down comforter.
It was great if the room was cold, but when the heater kicked in at 5:00 AM (when it's really cold), it got hot as hell and I started to sweat. Try a lighter comforter or just 2-3 blanks instead of one blanket and a comforter. Down comforters are the devil. They are great as long as the room stays cool, but if the room warms up they make me overheat. |
