Thinking about upgrading to Windows 7 from XP pro.  What are the pro's and cons.

Thanks for the help.

Just do it.  Windows 7 is a great operating system - I've been running on it for a good long while.

The one thing that I really love is the fast boot times.  Smoking fast.

I did shut off UAC because it bugs the piss out of me.

Windows 7 gogo.

The first thing you should do is check this link out: It shows you how to turn off windows UAC. (the stupid popups that ask you if you are sure)

Win7 rocks.

Make sure you get at least 2 gigs of RAM.  It COULD run on less than that, but why fuck with it?

Windows 7 is great - however, if you have an older computer...I don't think you're going to notice any speed or performance difference and you'll lose disk space.

I still run XP on my 6 year old desktop.  I have Win 7 on three newer laptops.

Compare the upgrade cost to the cost of a new low-end computer that might have better specs than your outdated machine.  I got a laptop at best buy for $388 including tax that has more than triple the disk space and memory that my old desktop PC has.  Computers are ridiculously cheap right now.

Love win 7. Have it on 2 machines.

Fast start up.

Snap feature for maximizing windows in useful ways.

Looks pretty... you can set up your background image so it does a slide show of a number of different images with a large number of options for time delay between each image.

I love 7 so far, but I really  hate the search function. They should have kept the old on largely intact.

I like Windows 7, but I lost my ability to spell-check in all MS programs.
