Actually, 2 problems now.
1st, it would fire up for a few minutes, then the flame would die, but it would finish the cycle. I've already put in a new flame sensor. Didn't work. Now the 2nd problem. While running it, it died. Now it won't start. When I try to start it, there's almost a 'grinding' noise, not very loud, sounds like it's coming from the timer. Now it won't run at all. I've tried Adam the Answer Man, Fixitnow.com, and Repairclinic.com. Help!!! WTF is wrong with my dryer!!!

Quoted:
1. Gas valve solenoids. Easy to replace. 2. It could be the timer but it usually works on another setting. You'd have to take it apart and OHM out the motor [to include the start windings] and check voltage to make sure. Doesn't work on any setings. Damn, that's $150. |

Anywhere around Jackson? $150 is retail, wholesale it's a whole lot less. Solenoids are pretty cheap. |

Did it run thru a full cycle then quit or did it quit while running?
There are really only about 4 different dryer motors used in about 95% of all dryers. I'm wondering if the centrifcal switch in the motor that controls the start winding is stuck. If it does not snap back to the start position, the motor will not start up. Of course it could also be as simple as the door switch going out. That is easy to OHM out though. |

It ran about 2 minutes and quit. Sounds like the start winding didn't get pulled out and overheated the motor. IM me the model and serial number of the dryer and I'll check on prices at Servall tomorrow while at work. I'll do the same for the solenoids but I think those are around $12 for a set of them.
