Why is it, some DVDs play in my player and some do not?  We get DVDs from Netflix, and some of them work in the DVD player and some don't, but all of them work in the DVD/CD player on the computer tower.  What kind of DVD player can I purchase that will play all of them?

Don't work... You put the DVD in the player, hit play, it spins up, and then does nothing.  You get no picture on the screen.

Grab one of those DVD Laser Cleaners from Best Buy or even cheaper online, it sounds like the laser is your standalone player is having some trouble.

Is your DVD player Region Coded?  Maybe you need to unlock it via a software flash or pushing a particular sequence of buttons on the remote control...

I had a DVD once that would not play at home (new sony player). Every other DVD would play.

The "bad" DVD would play in a DVD player at work.

You probably need to rewind the DVDs. I can't remember the last time I saw one of those "Be kind, rewind" stickers on a rented movie.

OK, I'll try the laser cleaner and read the book.  Anything else I should do?
