A while back I ordered a pair of Brembo rotors for my F150 from Amazon.  They got here today, I opened them up and found out that both of them were damaged!  One rotor had a good ding on the outside edge and the other one had a dings on both the outside and inside edge.  I bought new rotors so I wouldn't have to mess with turning mine, so I decided to go through the return process (for the 1st time).  It was fairly quick and easy.

The surprising thing is, they sent the replacements next day air, so according to the tracking number I should have them tomorrow (or today actually).  Basically about 24 hrs. or less from the time I submitted the return to the rotors being at my door.  Is this common for Amazon?  The only 2 things I've ordered from them, I used the free super saver shipping, and it took 7-9 days to get my items, so the replacements being shipped that quick really surprised me.  Especially since its a 41lb package.

Amazon's been very good at customer service and shipping for the many years I've ordered from them.

Pretty sure it was from Amazon but I'd have to double check.

Glad to hear that the good customer service wasn't a fluke.  I was debating on the replacements or a refund, but since they were in the original box, I figured it wasn't their fault they were damaged, so I'd give them a shot to fix it.  Regardless, it seems like they are on the ball when it comes to customer service.

When you return an item through Amazon and request a replacement, it goes into a workflow queue for review and resolution by a human being.

Unless your account has been flagged for abuse or there is something unusual with your order, 99% of the time within an hour or so the reviewer will simply overnight you a replacement with no questions asked.

I love Amazon.  Usually twice a week I have orders coming in.  Sometimes more.  We buy everything there.  Even some groceries (mostly staples).  I ponied up for the Prime.  The free 2-day is nice.  Even shipped two day, items coming from the Kentucky or Indiana DC's frequently show up overnight to my location if they get on a truck in time.  Couple of times I've been in a jam and the $3.99 overnight has saved my ass as well.

That is typical. I had to send something back and they sent the replacement right out.

Lol, we got a 900 pound planer when they offered them with free shipping from Amazon. They sent the wrong one and had to eat the return cost on that one, ouch!

I order a lot of things from Amazon and I've had a few things damaged in shipping. They have always been excellent to deal with on returns/replacements in my opinion.

Same here...the Prime was actually worth it for me (barely...but I'll come out slightly ahead over the course of the year).

Well surely enough, I got my replacement rotors today and gave them a once over.  They both look just fine.  They will be getting another order from me for brake pads here very soon.

Indeed.  Add to that no tax (for most people) and free shipping and they almost always win.

The only thing to watch with Amazon is whether it's shipping "from Amazon" or a 3rd party.  If it's 3rd party, you'll be dealing with them on any returns rather than Amazon.

That said, I order from 3rd parties all the time on Amazon too and have never had a problem.

Amazon itself is great to deal with.  I once ordered 2 of something when I meant to only order 1.  Return shipping was no problem and free for the extra item (as I recall, they gave me a page to print out and attach to the box and I took it to UPS and that was that).

I bought my last TV from Amazon, too.  42" LCD.  It came on a delivery truck (not UPS, FedEx or any normal mail company, just some local delivery company) and they brought it in and unboxed it and would have verified it worked before leaving, but it was too cold to turn it on (it was fine).

I love Amazon.  I order ridiculous amounts of stuff through them.  I would hate to see what I've spent there over the last 5 years.

If you use them a lot, look up "Amazon Prime".  For an $80 yearly fee, you can get free two-day shipping on everything and one-day shipping will only be $4 more (does not apply to 3rd party shippers, just Amazon stuff, which is most of it).

The Prime shipping thing is great. Especially since a family can share it and have stuff delivered all over the place for free.

Remember back when internets was just starting to get big (like 15 years ago). Internet shopping was truly awesome. Especially ordering computers and electronics. The price would be lower than anyone locally (if you could even find it locally), there was no sales tax, and overnight shipping was standard. If you ordered something in the morning, it would be there the next day, and they usually didn't even charge for shipping. Ahhh the good old days.

Just another note on Prime, I have literally saved over $400 in shipping costs since December, and it's almost as good as instant gratification.

I have abought a push lawnmower and a Weber Grill on Amazon...both shipped free...one arrived next day, one arrived the day after (When they were both supposed to arrive).

It is the best $80 bucks you will spend to get everything from ridiculous cheap Blu-Rays to Cr-123 Batts to a 12 pound bench vise/50lb Grill shipped free and within two days (Not two days, but within two days, I have had many products arrive next day if the order was early enough).

On top of that, as noted, Amazon CS is one of the best in the industry.  Fear not, they will take care of you, as they do want your business (Which is hard to find these days).

I ordered a generator from Amazon and it got to me smashed to bits and not functional.  They picked up the 65 lb thing and delivered a new one. It was also smashed to pieces and non functional. So they picked that up and delivered another one. It was smashed in but fictional.  Runs fine and works fine. But has some broken parts not extremely essential.

But damn it. I set up to return again.  They said that due to the repeated fuckuppery of wherever they were being shipped from, and the absurd cost of sending me 65 pound generators, they would take it back and refund my money, or give me a 40% discount.  I took the discount and got a broken parts yet working fine generator on the cheap.

You should be getting an email asking you to rate their service, and I'm sure they'd appreciate a few kind words for all to see.

I have ordered from Amazon a hundred times easily.  Only once have I ever had a problem, and it was with the quality of the item I bought, not Amazon's service (a pair of end tables that looked nice online but were absolute shit when I got them).

When I returned them to Amazon, they not only processed the return for no shipping charges, they also refunded my original shipping charges to receive the item!  I had paid absolutely nothing when it was over.

I left a bad review of the item online as well (the first review the item had received), and within a month, Amazon had pulled the item off their site and stopped selling it.
You can't ask for better service!!

yep, 2nd day free shipping FTW and 3.99 overnight is awesome when I need it. between my dad and myself we save on average about 500 bucks worth of shipping a year.

OP, I'd bet you didn't order through Amazon but one of the "sold by xxxxx" companies

Yeah, and it shows in their stock price.

I'd love to buy stock in them but so many other people think the same thing that their P/E is pretty out of whack.

I used to worry that Amazon would suffer dis-proportionally if we started getting high gas prices, but the more I think about it, the more I suspect Amazon will win even then, maybe moreso –– while Wal-Mart and Target will be shipping stuff to warehouses and then to stores and then I have to drive to the store and back, Amazon skips having to ship things to a store and uses UPS/Fed-Ex, who spend less gas per delivery because they can deliver so many things in one run.

So basically I think Amazon is the bomb.

I may spend some money on their stock anyway, even if the P/E is crazy (I was kind of waiting for the next big crash, though).

edit: No wait.  Amazon sucks!  They are terrible!  Their stock will crash!  You should all sell.  Spread the word. *puts in low buy order*
