Watching it now. Great shoot out scene at the end. Tough guys, I always liked Robert Duvall.

I love how they show how painfully slow it was to reload a Colt or Winchester under fire.  I think of this when I play RDR and reload my Peacemaker in about a second.

I love Costners high capacity wheel gun in that shhot out. I think it was a 20 shooter, before needing a reload. Other than that great movie

Very good film.  And as has been noted, excellent shoot-out at the end.

Kevin Costner actually did some good acting in this one.

Now, now...let's not exaggerate...he was shot through a wall and flung 6ft into another wall...but not thrown through it...

In the commentary, Costner says he felt obligated to put the "fanning" scene in because its a Western and he also amped up the gunshot volume to have more of an impact on the audience.

Overall, I liked the movie.

I read someplace that they were very careful to avoid that sort of thing, only to have the editors cut the film to make it look like he had a 20 shot sixgun.

They cut out the part where he switched guns.
The "New York Reload" was popular back then.

I have read this as well.

First time I watched it, I thought it kind of wierd to see the reloading and "normal capacity" guns emphasized throughout the movie, except for that one scene.

IIRC they also shot the same shots from multiple angles as well, increasing the total.

Great movie. Excellent dialogue. A true modern classic. Kickass gunfight. My only nitpick is the way that guy went flying across the alley when hit by both barrels of that shotgun.

Filmed just outside of Calgary, Alberta.  Noticed lots of big actors (famous in Canada) in it too.

Sorry for the major inconvenience. Never thought to google every question I had about an obscure movie name reference. I have heard of the flower, but never imagined anyone would name a child that, especially a boy. They do this in Texas? Thanks for the explain.

Seriously the 2nd best western of all time.  Only Unfogiven ranks higher and only because I like Clint better than Kevin.

Although Robert Duvall reminds me of a real man's man in this movie and just about every movie I've ever seen him play in.

Best Western movie line ever: "We all got it comin, kid"
2nd best movie line ever, " Not today there not..."
