I thought I would introduce myself here, since I could not find a sub-forum for new members to do their intro. (Mods: please move to correct forum if in the wrong one)
Well, guys, apparently a particular thread I was involved in on another site got some real attention here on AR15.com. First off, allow me to apologize to you, as well. I had no idea of who I was dealing with, but now I am "educated" to his ways. Man, that was ugly. As to the introduction, I am a film armorer (www.indie-arms.com - my company), specializing in student/independent film in Southern California. Currently I am working on building 4 M2's (two in HB confib, 2 in AC config) to become sim-fires. As well, I hold down a day job as an ET for an audio company. Well, there is whole chapter I could write here, but will not bore y'all with the details. Thanks for the membership! Doc |

Quoted: LOL, as if I don't get it on every other forum? Hey, hate the State, not the poor guy forced to live here. But Bayonet, I found a way to grow organic free range vegetables in ammo cans, using an M2 tripod as a trellis. That would be frackin' awesome. The trellis I mean! |

Not sure the policy on linking to other forums on AR15.com. But it was on TOS and I challenged another member to provide facts for some "out there" conspiracy claims. Hey, I will be the first to say, there are things going in our government I am not too happy about, but when the theories start getting strange, I ask for some facts.
Never ask for facts from him. LOL, MTN!!!! I saw your post, and the first thought was......."WTF???????? He's here?" You got the language down. If it's okay, about the pics............you guys are welcome to check out my site, since it really is not advertising, unless there are some of you in the film biz. Mods, this cool? Normally, I prefer blank firing guns, one because until recently, we did not have our EFP. And you did not have to have an EFP to buy most blank guns. And I will admit, I use a LOT of airsoft guns that I modify for film work. With a bit of work, until you pull the trigger, you cannot tell them from the real thing. |

In before the Mod posts about Dealer Memberships. Yeah, that's what I would of thought, hence the asking. But I am not a dealer, nor do I sell anything, If anything, I am a buyer. And I don't think, could be wrong though, anybody would be hiring me from this site. Heck y'all have the real thing, my stuff are props. |

+1 for both. And just plan on being "wrong" in someone's eyes in GD - no matter what the topic is. Had a buddy that was a cameraman for a few years. Fun industry, but very different on the inside. |

It is fucked up that you can make a MG for movies but the avg. Joe can't make one for himself. Well, keep in mind, they are not real. Even the ones I am building are sim fires, and I have to submit to BATF for "Non-Gun" certificate. The engineering behind building these is intense, for a non-engineer like me. SP's are 3/4" shorter than the real thing, and 2x thick. But I want to use all real outside parts, Top cover, Top and bottom plates, Trunnion and Barrel, Rear Handle Assemb. So it has been a challenge. |

And most of them have had them from way back when. Getting a new permit and Class III in California.........forget it. So, that is why I am going the sim fire route for my M2's. There are a few companies out there that mod weapons into blank props. It involves placing a permanent restrictor down the barrel so it cannot chamber a real round, just blank ammo. The restrictor also allows the action of the weapon work as designed, due to the "restriction port" being much smaller than the barrel. But those are expensive. My company is not quite there yet. |

Realwar, it is coming sooner than you think. The advances in CGI have been huge. And even the most inexperienced film-maker has access to programs for CG. Muzzle flashes and flying brass has gotten very good in Post Production. But I still have some time. And that is why my focus has been on the Independent market. Most of them cannot afford to hire a Class III armorer, but still want those types of weapons for their film. That is where I step in. I give them everything but the gunflash. I train the actor to "sell" him firing the weapon.
Hey! Is that Achmed the Dead Terrorist in your avatar? |
