I frickin' HATE cottonwood trees....
I'll admit I've been putting them off (for a year or two), but now it's time. I have two 40 footers, one of which is sprouting a mini-grove of it's own and the others roots decorate the lawn like a spider web (I have a strong dislike of spiders too). I'm gonna hack out the over growth between the tree and the fence, but I need to know how to keep it from growing back....any help? Any arborists in the house? If I wasn't afraid of having one fall on the house, I'd hack the roots out, and if it didn't cost a frickin' arm and a leg I'd make them both go away all together.
