I frickin' HATE cottonwood trees....

I'll admit I've been putting them off (for a year or two),  but now it's time. I have two 40 footers, one of which is sprouting a mini-grove of it's own and the others roots decorate the lawn like a spider web (I have a strong dislike of spiders too).

I'm gonna hack out the over growth between the tree and the fence, but I need to know how to keep it from growing back....any help? Any arborists in the house?

If I wasn't afraid of having one fall on the house, I'd hack the roots out, and if it didn't cost a frickin' arm and a leg I'd make them both go away all together.

Cut it off, treat the stump with Tordon RTU––or just have the stump ground out, which will kill the "heart."

It has a good chance of ending badly with the chainsaw option as well....

Yeah then I have to get rid of them...$$$. Unfortunately that is not an option at this time.

I own a stump grinding business. Do not treat it then decide that is taking to long and then call someone to grind it. Either treat it and wait it out or have it ground to start with.

They aren't coming down (even though I wish they would)...I just need to keep the "feeders" from coming back up once I've hacked them down.

Really, no arborists here?

I thought this place thrived on diversity...

I heard once that if you chop a tree down and drill a hole in the stump you can fill it with oil and let it soak in a while and light it on fire and it will burn the stump and roots out..... and its prolly great for the environment
