Is there any health reasons I should not continue to workout at the gym with a Cold.

Other than the consideration of the other patrons?

Thanks,

Fidel

Your doctor would probably advise against it as your system is already under stress from the cold.  A hard workout will stress your system

even more,  and can quite possibly delay your recovery from your cold.

And seriously,  you wouldn't be welcomed by ANYBODY at ANY gym if they found out that you were working out when you knew you had a cold.

That's just DUMB.

STAY HOME!   Go back to the gym when you're fully healthy again, and not before!

yeah, working out at the gym while sick is very dickish, so don't do that

stay home drink orange juice and stuff, watch TV and post on Arfcom and you'll be better in no time

It's not a very good idea to exert yourself physically when your immune system is trying to fight off a virus or cold.  It's definitely the worst possible combo.  Just the other day I had a GREAT workout... but i must have caught a virus or something that night.  The next few days were hell, since my body was sore from my good workout AND the virus/cold. Definitely took a lot longer to recover too

Some say it's better for your immune system to stay active, but I'm not so sure.

Gyms are filthy... not saying that to be judgmental, because I go to a gym. But it's hell on an already compromised immune system. I'd say don't go. My doctor said the same when I had bronchitis this past winter. I was hell bent on losing weight, though, so I did some light cardio workouts at home and a whole lot of weight training to burn fat. Even jumping rope should help, if you're up to it. I'm guessing this is why I was down for a month. But hey, I kept losing weight

For a host of reasons, don't do it.

Well, it sounds unanimous that I should take it easy for a while.

Definitely get your rest, you will recover more quickly.

I had a cold earlier this week and I'm pretty much over it now, but still a little congested.  It was weird, I had a sore throat for a couple days with no other symptoms.  I just assumed it was from allergies or something, then Sunday night all hell broke loose with the runny nose, sneezing, etc.

I tried it a couple of times when I was younger.  Since I was sick, I just didn't have the energy to put in a truly productive workout, and it just made me even more tired and worn out.  So I never bothered again.
