This has been a month of great new(to me) things. This month i finished my newest AR (DPMS lower, Model1 LPK/upper/ershaw16.5 barrel, Yankee hill CAR handguards, magpul furniture) Bought a 1997 F250 7.3L Turbo Diesel (it's nom nom good) Rescued a precious black lab/mut mix So, a good bit of financial bite off that put my savings back to the "UBER LOW" point This has been a SUCK 2 days So I found out Thursday that my company is considering a buy out... this happens all the time, we get offers, they can't afford what we're worth, done. Papers are signed this monday for the buyout, i've been offered nothing for employment and i've been told there will be no severence, i can survive 2 months of raw bills on my savings, doesnt include the "day to day." My father owns a commercial landscaping company and told me all he can offer is a laborer position right now, so 12$ hourly which i know is better than alot are making, it's just crazy that everything was so up, and then a ton of bricks landed on me. I'm putting out signs monday for cut rate tree service removal... it's worth a shot. |

it's just hard going from 45 to 12, just a lifestyle change for the moment, not a devistation. The real kick in the ass is how much was just dropped on new stuff with the belief i had a stable and longterm income. I didnt mention in the OP that i've been with these guys for 3 years and literally BUILT they're company. They funded, i did labor on rooftops in attics, dealing with customers. They sat in the office and collected the payments and signed the bills. |

the company that bought us bought all the companies like us, they have monopoly in the area. i dont really care about this line of work for lifetime, i did it because it was offered at good pay, i was good at it. I own 2 companys that are posting 0 profits cause i've devoted most time to the job. |

It must be pretty lucrative for them to pay you $45/hour and have enough money to have others sit in an office and do nothing. If they have a monopoly in the area, it might be pretty good to be the only competition for them. You said you don't want to work in landscaping for 12/hour, and you don't like the other job. I'd take the high pay at the job I don't like vs the low pay at the job I don't like. ETA: If you already have business ownership experience, I'd ditch the companies that do nothing for you and focus on where the money is. It's work, if it was fun, everyone would do it for free. |

Dammit man, let me waller(sp?) in self pity. My plans right now are to get the tree removal/trimming service up and running, invest in a second rig and have 2 teams (eventually more)running daily, liquidate the 2 companies (firearms accessories and pc component sales/repairs) eventually invest into a franchised restaraunt or other small business. No more relying on others for employment. |

bad month for me too. closed 3 deals for may. all of them either reneged, pushed to june/july, or waiting on a quote from a competitor. the one deal i was going to get commission on (someone working in my territory), pushed to june also. found out last minute from accounting that i took a negative on a deal that closed and went through, but nsf'ed too early in the process. it'll get better... keep your chin up. don't get emotionally attached to the highs and lows. |
