Well my son left for basic training about 2 weeks ago. He is the first to leave the nest and its been hard for mom and I.
He is at Lackland AFB. He got interviewed for a Crew Chief position for F-15 last week so we have our fingers crossed for him! He is following in dads footsteps (i was Crew Chief in Army) so im a very proud dad. Anyone know where most the F-15's are stationed? im trying to figure where his possible Air Base will be located. |

The F-15 fleet is shrinking, but right now they are pretty much at Eglin and Tyndall in FL, Nellis in NV, Mountain Home in ID, Seymour Johnson in NC, Langley in VA (if they have any left, but I don't think they do) or Elmendorf AK. With the way things are going with the F-15 fleet he'll probably end up in AK, ID, or NC since the C/D models are slowly going away and active duty will be stuck with just E models pretty soon. ETA: I almost forgot overseas bases, there are Eagles in Japan and England too. If your son is hoping to get stationed close to home your best bets will be AK or ID. |

Langley AFB, VA
Tyndall AFB, FL Egland AFB, FL Seymour Johnson AFB, NC Nellis AFB, NV Mountain Home AFB, MO Edwards AFB, CA If he goes overseas RAF Lakenheath, England Kadena Air Base, Japan and maybe Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska if they havent totaly converted to the F-22 by then. I may have missed a few, I'm an F-16 guy myself. Tell him to hang in there, boot and tech school will be over before he knows it and the "real Air Force" is a lot better than AETC. Thanks for the replies. Yeah he is struggling with basic (in the break them down point of basic) Its funny i warned him and told him how it would be before he ever left. He should be rounding the curve to the point they start building them back up soon.
But at 19 its still pretty overwhelming im sure. I went in late 24 and had the game figured out real quick and played right along. But i do remember the younger guys having a harder time of it. Oh, pretty sweet bases to be at from a glance. Over sea bases look pretty nice too! |

You obviously did something right with him, you should be congratulating yourself on raising a fine and disciplined young man who is going out to selflessly serve his country...not a time for lament, only celebration.
I can only hope I do such a good job in raising my son. |
