Awesome, it would be cool if you take a 'scope shot' with it. Youtube "OMGIS". I dont have the setup to really capture the video from the thermal unit. For anyone who saw it, it was the reason I had the thread a few days back asking about a camcorder with an AV IN option. ETA: CR123 or it also has a cable to plug into a cigarette lighter. |

is it British or did you get a cheap imitation Canadian or Australian thermal unit? Nope. American. ETA What are some of the cheap Australian or Canadian thermal units available? it's a play on words. Google British Thermal Unit. OH a BTU?? Well played...... |

I wonder if something like this system could be patched into a helmet-mounted screen, or to an LCD mounted on the side of the rifle?
That would definitely be Hack-tastic ETA: now that I think about it, what a fantastic adjunct to an NVG-equipped rifle. Mount that thermal unit to the side of your helmet (protec or MICH with the side-rail), with a small, wearable LCD screen for the non-dominant eye. Use that to scan the area. If a target presents itself, (or you want better ID), switch to the rifle-mounted NVG as they get close enough... though that would require you to "scope" every object you're attempting to ID. Hmm...
