Looking for a good pair of sunglasses, I've been through several pairs of the cheap ones that you can get from a mall kiosk.
Basically looking for a good pair of durable sunglasses that can be used on the range and viable ballistics protection. Would like a pair that were rated to be used by the Army, but not required. Any info would be great. |

I kept telling myself I would never waste money on Oakleys. Always used the cheap filling station shades. They would last a month, tops.
Then I bought a pair of Oakleys. Then another pair. No regrets here. I'll buy more in the future, if these bastards ever finally wear out or break. It's not looking promising. Of course, I get the government pricing, which is about 50% off retail. That helps lessen the blow. |

Quoted: Native silencer reflex... the best shades i have ever worn. great warranty too I love my silencers. No ballistic protection however. Also, Native raised the lifetime warranty "service charge" to $30. Oh, and they only come with 2 lens colors now, not 4. No more clear. |

Oakley....
I get mine here... https://secure.usstandardissue.com/Product_Detail.cfm?id=184#

Oakley is the obvious answer
for the protection side you are looking for meeting or exceeding ANSI Z87.1 standard for velocity impacts there are cheaper glasses out there that provide as much or more protection as Oakleys but the fit, finish and wow factor isn't as high. For outside work and protection in my scrap yard I provide my guys with a less expensive Wiley X Romer series 1 time per year If they lose them they are stuck with the 20 dollar Crews glasses until next time around I am waiting on a pair of Oakley Jawbones with interchangable lens to come in now |

Quoted: Oakley Flak Jackets Yep. Absolutely love mine. Getting them half price from usstandardissue is the icing on the cake. The best part is you can swap the lenses out with clear or amber for range use, polarized for fishing, normal for everyday use, whatever. If a set of lenses gets scratched up a new set is only $25, instead of buying a whole new set of glasses. |

Nothing beats Blue Blockers. I'm not kidding. The style is not to everyone's taste Their big trick was brown polarized lenses. Great contrast and color rendition. I generally go for nothing but brown polarized sunglasses. Native makes nice ones. Oakley finally got in the game to some degree, and they offer more brown polarized lenses now than they used to, but I find them overpriced and ugly. |

Maui Jim Glass lenses =/= balistic protection. All sun glasses sold in the United States provide balistic protection. Fed.Gov requires it. Where can this be verified? Let's see how well glass lens Maui Jims hold up compared to Oakleys. It's not even in the same ballpark. It's only your eyes though..... |

Quoted: VR28 lenses rock, I have them for my half jackets and my flak jackets. For really bright sunlight (middle east style or on snow) I prefer iridium ones, but for cloudy/partly sunny conditions the VR28s are impossible to beat. Quoted: Nothing beats Blue Blockers. +1 for Revision. I own Serengetis, Maui Jims, Wiley Xs, Coyotes,
and numerous throw-away sunglasses. My midnight mirror Hellflys have 'em all beat. The Serengetis block glare as well, but aren't as wearable. The Maui Jims are as wearable, but don't block glare as well. The Coyotes and Wiley Xs don't even come close. |

The last pair I bought was made in Hawaii to boot. Expensive but well worth it. |

Right now I'm trying to decide between the Oakley Flak Jacket (Black/Black Iridium) or the Revision Hellfly (Black/Flame) Question: how do polarized lenses effect the use of optics? I have Flak Jackets, and I find the interchangeable lenses to be useful. VR28 on cloudy days, Grey Polarized on sunny days, and clear at the range. I have no idea about polarization's effect on optics. My WASG, is no effect. |

Oakleys.
I got Flak Jackets with VR28 Black Iridium polarized lenses, which are a blue-blocker type lens (they cut out a lot of blue from the sky, make things seem pink/amber when you first put em on). BEST contrast and clearness of ANY sunglasses I have ever worn, bar none! |
