I have a linksys BEFW11S4 router. It's currently unsecure. How do I secure it? |

Gotta login to your router. Just type 192.168.1.1 into your address bar. That is common anyways, it should say on the bottom of the router. Should also have a generic username and password there too. You need to change the generic one or the security you setup is worthless.
ETA, some older systems will require a Microsoft update for WPA-2, otherwise you can only use WPA. |

Do I have to do everything for you http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=5927105f59384b2eb79d194330d2e557_3696.xml&pid=96&slnid=4 |

Quoted:
+1 WPA-2 is fine for residential use, stay away from WEP as its about as easy to walk through as wet toilet paper. +1 WEP is obsolete... the statistical attacks against RC4 make it completely insecure. MAC address filtering is also insufficient. Use WPA or WPA-2 with a long and random passphrase. No actual words, no words with simple letter-to-number substitutions (like "1" for "i"), and no jargon. Brute-force password cracking tools have dictionaries that include foreign languages, professional jargon, letter-to-number substitution plug-ins, etc. |
